Since I will be getting a lift (just the rear right now, but plan on getting a complete one later on) pretty soon, I figured I would start a build thread of my own. (Kuma, I hope you don't mind but I'm using your format)

http://dumud.net/~ccristofolini/squadx/Squad%20X.gif

Mod List:
Ext.

Removal of front lower valence. (Not my choice (http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?t=7789))
(Going to) Paint plastics/rims.
(Going to) Get a pre-runner (https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=382_533&products_id=4335) bar from AC.
(Going to) Add auxiliary lights for rear & sides.
More to come...

Int.

Lobo-rack/shelf.
(Going to) Get a new CD dock.
(Going to) Build something to store my (FF) gear in.
More to come...

Eng.

DIY Intake Mod (http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2192)
K&N Drop in filter.
(Going to) Get a Flowmaster 40.

Origins:
Well, I don't really call my X "Squad X". But for the sake of the thread, and for the thought that it will maybe catch on, I figured I would name the thread with it. I plan on turning it into a rescue-type vehicle with minor extrication gear, medical supplies, fire extinguishers (different types), etc. I am currently a junior fire fighter here in town, and I am considering it for a career.

Day 1: First day I had her, didn't know about the whole "Xterra" thing. I had to accept the fact that I was going to have an SUV for a first car; after looking at pick-up after pick-up, but couldn't find the "right one" according to the parents.

Further on down the road: After I got used to her, and began to accept the roll I had, being an Xterra owner that is, in society and being the envy of all of my friends with their handy-down parents Chevy Trackers, Honda Civics, Honda CR-Vs, Buick Park Avenues, etc. Keep in mind that I was supposed to be getting my dad's '01 Yota Taco. But thanks to the recall and the frame being rusted, he got Toyota to give him $8k back (no KKB 1.5%, since it was a 2001. What BS!). I guess it was a blessing in disguise really. (I later on became smarter and took off the mud flaps and step rails.)

1st Winter:I'm not going to bother explaining what happened again in depth. Long story short my X fought the snow bank, and lost. Read the story here (http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?t=7789). This is where she currently stands of today, along with a broken leaf spring and 135k miles on her. She's still running strong and is awaiting a new leaf, new Bilstein shocks, and AAL 2" leafs.

ha, nice post Vande. I know, I know I have to get on the mods. I'm all tapped out at the moment due to the rear suspension. The flowmasters next (Unless I need the whole cat-back due to rusting). Then probably designing what to put on the front to cover up the frame. I'll be racking in some more money than normal in about a month or so when I can get out on co-op with my high school since I'm in IT. Hopefully they'll let me continue working at Staples since I'm already doing tech work there.

Yeah I'm a junior at a vocational/tech school. I can't stand the people in my shop (70% bitchy girls that fail and are there for the free ride since the teachers a nice guy/20% d-bags/10% me and like a couple people I get along with). That's why I'm trying to get out next year and enroll in the program at Vermont Tech in which you can finish your senior year of high school and start your freshmen year of college, all in the same year. Just gotta get a 1550 or better on my SAT, and I'm already a VT resident... so hopefully I have a good chance of getting in.

So the point in time has come in which I'm sick of the way my X looks with no lower valence. Therefor, I'm going to buy a bull bar; I know, I know... just for looks, I know this. But I think it will look better than what it does now. So hopefully by the end of next week (or the one after that) my X will be looking like this:

(Minus the lower valence)

I chickened out (more like smartened up) on the bull bar. I'm now going to follow through and design the bumper for my friend to fab up. Today I got my broken leaf replaced, the single AAL's and new rear Bil's put in the back. Pics to come...
