I am considering an xterra for my next suv but don't really know if I
should wait on the 2007 model. The deals on the 2006's are ok but
could be better. I would wait on the o7 if there was going to be any
major improvement but I can't find ANY info on the o7 anywhere.

Does anybody have a clue if anything major will be changed?

As far as I have heard, there are no major changes slotted for the 07. I remember hearing about a couple of interior ammenities such as leather-wrapped steering wheel, but that's about it.

Try calling up your local dealership and see if they have any concrete info, also ask when they will be taking delivery on the 07 inventory. When the new model year starts arriving, that's when you can get awesome deals on the previous year, as they need to reduce overhead and make space for the newer vehicles.

I just looked 20 pages deep on Yahoo search and still find nothing on
the 2007 model xterra. So I am convinced if I buy a 06 now the 07's
will arrive next week with 40% inproved fuel enconomy, free dvd
screens and the msrp will be cut 10% under 06.

Cool.

:D

Stock up I guess.

Seriously, the X has received a style change every 2 years, and a major platform change every 4 yrs, since '00.

So, while I have no specifics on the '07, the pattern appears to involve an appearance change at the 2 year mark, with no major mechanical changes...hmmm, maybe the supercharger for '02 might count...?

Well, the basic X seems to run 4 year model cycles with a mid point style change (Square to round headlights, etc...)

I might guess that the '07 would notch in the way the other models did.

Hope that helps.

I found this:

"2007 Nissan Xterra

The 2007 Xterra offers excellent off-road performance, a 265-horsepower 4.0-liter V6 and a rugged, fully boxed all-steel frame. Xterra’s second generation exterior styling evokes that of the original, including a highly functional roof rack (now with covered gearbox). Inside, Xterra offers a large interior cabin, especially in 2nd row head and leg room, and a multi-flex cargo area – including an easy clean cargo area with Utili-track channel system.

Features of the 2007 Xterra include:

Mp3 audio playback standard in SE model, added to Rockford Fosgate Audio Package
Leather-wrapped steering wheel and sunglass holder standard in Off Road grade
Mudguards now standard on all 4X4 models
Body side molding standard on SE models
New exterior color – Sandstone"

From what I have seen and read, there are no major changes on the way. It all depends on how patient you are willing to be and what features you want. I picked up a leftover 05 Xterra in May of 06. Mind you I had been looking around for quite a bit of time to get exactly what I wanted, but they came off the sticker by about 6k before we even got around to talking real numbers on my trade in (00 Frontier Crew Cab). The end result was owing less than 10K on a brand new Xterra.

Believe it or not, there are still a few Nissan dealers that have 05's on the lot. If you want one of them, you can beat the dealer over the head on the pricing. They are losing massive amounts of money on them, in that they are still sitting. I know that Tricities Nissan in TN and the main dealer in Asheville (can't recall the name) both had 05's as of about 2 weeks ago.

Just my two cents.

Thanks,

I will check into that. I was kinda lookin for an 06 for the bigger
engine as I do tow a large trailer loaded with atv's and dirt bikes
sometimes. I guess I am correct that the 265hp started with the
06 models?

If I can get one of these guys to come off sticker 3.5 or 4k on an
06 that should be a pretty good deal , is that possible?

thanks,
Robb

As soon as the new models come rolling in, the discounts really start. There really weren't much of any changes between the 05 and 06 models. Last year about the beginning of October, they started a 2500 rebate. Hope this helps.

Thanks Donald,

I was already thinking it might be smart to wait another month.
Thats probably what I'll do
