a guy my mom works with is lookin at an 05ish Xterra with about 38,XXX miles. He asked me about some problems and stuff if they had any and I told him i wanst too sureof any besides the difs in the OR's going bad. He specifically said trans problems and I told him I haven't heard of any.

He called me today and asked me to come take a lose look at it with him sometime this week so I was hoping all you second gen guys could warn me of some things to look for. I think he said they're asking 12K but I told him he can get them to 10 mostlikely. What do you think? need your opinions. I'll get more details on it when he calls me back later like exact year, miles, trim level

The aluminum front diffs seem to be fine if you keep the tire size down/are easy on the go go juice under duress, etc.

With the wheel turned/on uneven traction/under power type situs, esp with tires OVER 33" in diameter, the diffs explode from the torque. (Much stronger engines in the new X's...)

The D44 hybrids in the OR's are not as strong as the older X's axles, but seem to be holding up, and a factory locker is the bomb, etc. :D

People wheeling the OR's with 33's seem fine.

:D

Thanks for that info on the Diffs TJ. We get a lot of questions about people shopping for 2nd gens and we've needed those details as to the circumstances the owners were in when they grenade.
