Good info!
:D
I just went through this last summer - and I used a FLIR unit to scan the underhood action while the engine warmed up, and sure enough, the system wasn't getting to temp, and was losing pressure at the cap.
So I replaced the cap, and all the weird overheating symptoms dissappeared.
:D
So it absolutely works as a solution.

Rusty- Excellent info! Thanks!!
TJ - You used a FLIR unit to look at your engine? haha. you = crazy
One of my many hats.

Also tells me my brake rotors will be going south sooner rather than later...and exhaust temp vs my adjacent OBA, etc.

Do you have the airtank mounted under the truck? - where the giant OEM muffler belongs?
Yeah - that big honkin OEM muffler used up the big 'ol valley under the drivers side...I re-routed the exhaust and swapped in a resonator and a smaller (Magnaflow SUV) aftermarket muffler at the END of the tail pipe...freeing up enough space to tuck a 4 gal OBA tank up out of harms way....then welded a skid for it anyway.
:D
Its tucked up pretty high in there -

Its higher than the driveshaft at least -

I have a QD on the front bumper ran from the tank, so I can just plug in whatever I need to from there.

Where's the compressor? I may copy your setup in the future.
Here's mine, it works - it's just too low-volume. It's a system I had origanally made and installed in the trunk of my WRX for airing up tires for Auto-x. It worked great for the lower volume low profile tires on the car, but it's too slow for the 31" swampers

I have it where the cruise control and steering reservoir used to be (I relocated both, so both still work) Between the passenger side fender and the engine...it runs from the battery to the firewall.
I mounted the relay and fuse set up to the fender next to it, and put a one way on the output so I wouldn't get blow back from the tank into the compressor.
Its set up to run off of both a manual switch on the dash, and a 110/145 psi pressure switch on the tank...so it can automatically keep the tank charged, even parked with the engine off, etc, if so desired.
Its a 4 cfm / 150 psi compressor, 100% duty cycle, with a cooling fan (I love group buys..)
BTW - We're kind of Hi-Jacking a really good radiator cap thread...if we need to discuss more, lets make a new thread.
