Just a quick intro: IT IS TIME TO MAKE SOME MODS TO MY X!!! Found this awesome site a few weeks ago and thought I would give it a spin. Family and I have been in El Paso for three years and now are moving to the Northwest, not sure what to think about that, we will miss the desert and sand, but I am sure we will love the ocean and sand also.

So... I am fairly new to the off-road stuff, well on four wheels anyway. I am an avid mountain biker, but finding it fun to take the X off road. Our family is big into GEOCACHING and I love taking the X to look for these little treasures. After spending a week at Big Bend Ranch State park in TX Big Bend country, I knew off-roading was my new thing. But, where do I start? My MODS so far include Skid plates, Beilstein Shocks, Fog lamps and a tow package - yes we tow a starcraft 14 r/t off road pop-up camper with our X and man can it pull that thing. So what will be next - I want more power and better advantage off road. Tires? Bigger? Cold air intake? Rock Sliders? Remember this is also a family car and can't look like we are going on safari. Let’s keep it real, but lets make it tough as nails!! Blessings - T-Allan (2006 Xterra)

Great Question... My wife and son have been in Utah this week and took this picture of snow plowing Utah style and the x in the background - That is the first time it drove in the snow - Wife reports it was a blast driving around in the snow!! two weeks ago we had it so covered with dust you would have thought it was brown!!

Welcome to CX! :wink-big:

My first recommendation would be armor, keying on sliders. The rocker panels are your most vulnerable BODY part (not talking about what's underneath). If you want to keep it looking pretty, sliders are what you will need. But skid plates, especially engine/tranny and front skids are very important.

Good luck with all the mods you want to do. The members here are glad to help any way they can.

Welcome to the club.
When the mod bug bites it's too bad the IRS won't let you claim the X as another dep. ;)

Schrockworks.com

They make some nice sliders, although they are kinda pricey, and will also take a couple weeks to get out to you. (made to order).

Sliders are something that isn't hard to have custom made also.

Anywise, Welcome to the club! I look forward to seeing more pix of your X!
