: Rausch Creek April 18th.
Bklyn.X 03-09-2009, 08:13 AM My original plans to go on the 25th were trashed by a family obligation but I must get out or lose my mind. Many folks from a few different clubs are still going on the 25th but sadly I can not.
So instead I’m planing to be at Rausch Creek (http://www.rauschcreekoffroadpark.org/) on the 18th now with a few others. You would be welcome if you’d care to join us.

Xterra Mike 04-19-2009, 09:55 AM x2
Bklyn.X 04-19-2009, 04:26 PM Headed out to Rausch at ~430, was supposed to meet Tim on the Jersey side of the Holland Tunnel but he had told me on Friday that he had to bail. Good thing because the Holland was closed! That would have been a F’ed up way to start if Tim was trying to meet me at the far end of the closed tunnel.
Got to Rausch around ~820 and the parking was already packed because of the club competition they where holding. I saw a couple of friends that were there for that including Jody (helps run NORA (http://www.niora4x4club.com/)) who hooked me with a cool club sticker, thanks bro.
Met up with few guys in the morning. First Eric, Kyle and his friend Mike. Said hello and decided it would be best to check in right away because of the crowd. Will and Mehdi, of ECXC fame, showed up and checked in and we started to talk about what to run. This guy Bill with a sweet, nicely moded Bronco asked if he could run with us so we had a group that wanted to run Blue/Black. Eric was not feeling up to that so hooked up with the Frontier contingent of LINXC (http://www.linxc.com/forums_v3/portal.php) and a couple of NORA (http://www.niora4x4club.com/) guys to run Green/Blue.
The Blue/Black group figured to go straight to the west and run 13 before it was swamped with Jeepers. If you’ve never run it, 13 is a really fun Blue bordering on Black with no by-passes. There is one escape between the “a” and “b” part but otherwise you must commit to run it. You need armor to do it without taking a huge risk of F’ing up your junk. I needed a spot near the back end of “a” but otherwise no worries.
Will on 13a;

I was leading so no action shots of me on 13. :(
Right after “a” Will lost his brakes. Turned out that one of the rear brake lines gave out unrelated to any trail damage. Very odd. He pinched it and ran with just front brakes.
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/BklynX_photo/Rausch%204-18-2009/DSC_0047.jpg
He and Mehdi exited the trail there to test the brakes while the rest of us finished 13 which was nice and wet and good fun.
We then met up with Will and Mehdi. It was a bit after noon and I was hoping to see the guys from the Green/Blue group at the usual lunch spot on 11 but did not. After a short lunch we decided to do 12 and near the end of that Will cut the inside of his front tie. It was on an easy part of the trail and we all could not believe his luck.
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/BklynX_photo/Rausch%204-18-2009/DSC_0049.jpg
After changing the tire he was done. Mehdi stuck with him and they cut out. Sorry your day was cut short guys but I can understand not wanting to continue after two freak fails like that in one day. Hope you had a little bit of fun any way.
So then Bill suggested that we to go to the south and run a fairly new trail over there (22). It was Bill, Kyle and Mike, and me. I was in the least equipped vehicle but was determined to hang. Bill took us on “Boot Hill”, a Black that I had absolutely no F’ing business being on. It kicked my ass. During one hill climb Kyle stacked some rocks so I could get some traction. To everyone’s amazement, even my own, once the tires grabbed I just kept on the gas until I was clear.
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/BklynX_photo/Rausch%204-18-2009/DSC_0055.jpg
I had to check my shorts after that. Of course Kyle just climbed right up with no problem just to show me up.
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/BklynX_photo/Rausch%204-18-2009/DSC_0068.jpg
MF’er.
I by-passed the little rock garden right after that climb to catch my breath but can still honestly say I ran “Boot Hill”. I bent the crap out of my front and transfer case skid plates. It sounds like they’re touching something because they are vibrating when I’m at idle. Still it was pretty cool.
We then ran 22, a newish Blue that was tough but easier than the trail “Boot Hill”. I think Bill and Kyle wanted to run “Snake Bite” but I was done. I have run it a few times and the truck was making some new and unfamiliar sounds. We headed back to the east. Ran “4" and “CV” and then called it a day. Looked for the LINXC (http://www.linxc.com/forums_v3/portal.php) crew in the still packed parking lot but figured it was still early and that they were still on the trail. I decided to head home and left Kyle and Mike under Kyle’s Jeep looking for things to fix.
Just a side note; Kyle’s Jeep is awesome. I think I would have bought it if offered the deal he got.
It was a great day, beautiful weather, very challenging for me. I’ve got to get under the truck and see what damage I did, as I said it’s making a few new noises that have me a bit worried.
When ever I’m with a group that is doing tough trails I have very few pictures because I’m trying to keep up. The few I have are HERE (http://s172.photobucket.com/albums/w15/BklynX_photo/Rausch%204-18-2009/?albumview=slideshow)!
silverbullet 04-19-2009, 05:21 PM Glad you guys had a good time tom. Thanks againg for grabbing those sliders. i just got them from kyle.

Cool.
Xterra Mike 04-19-2009, 06:47 PM nice pics
punkrockdrummerx 04-19-2009, 07:23 PM I gotta admit, I had an awesome time on saturday! Everything and all the trails we ran were excellent!
13 is without a doubt my all time favorite trail. It always changes, and its the best to run after its been raining cause it basically floods and its then like running in a rocky creek.
After Will had all his mishaps and left for the day with Mehdi, Tom, Bill, and I definitally had a great time.
Bill made an assumption and thought Tom was locked front and rear...thats why he took us to 22 and Boot Hill. Bill's Bronco has a spool in the rear and a detroit up front with a twin sticked dana 20 and a tera low 3.8 kit inside. So naturally he was very well equipped. Tom said it best...he didn't have any business being on that trail. I know I personally would have never ever taken my X on that trail. But that being said, Tom kicked some serious ass on that trail and the hill! The pictures do not do any justice for how steep and rocky that hill auctually is. But I do have to give credit where credit is due...Tom, your awesome :anbeten-big:
And on another side note...I think I finally feel exonerated by Tom's statement: Just a side note; Kyle’s Jeep is awesome. I think I would have bought it if offered the deal he got.
I can finally feel better now that I have been cleared! lol
My pictures from the day are currently uploading, and here is the LINK (http://s475.photobucket.com/albums/rr114/punkrockdrummerTJ/4-18-09%20wheeling/)
Xterra Mike 04-19-2009, 08:10 PM Kyle, its only cause its you that we accept your awesome jeep. Anyone else would be bashed for being on here with a jeep. Can't wait to see that thing in person.
Bklyn.X 04-19-2009, 09:05 PM Thanks Kyle, great pictures.
bluex 04-20-2009, 06:17 AM awesome pictures guys. Glad you guys had fun. I love trail 13 but only did the A part. should be doing the entire trail when we are up there this Saturday

Bklyn.X 04-20-2009, 07:00 AM 13B is a lot more fun/difficult and the entire trail is way more fun backwards!!
...and in the rain!
Drake 04-20-2009, 08:09 AM Awesome shots guys!
I can't knock jeeps anymore. My local club is 90% jeepers and they don't give me too hard of a time for being the ONLY nissan in the group. Not to mention they have some pretty impressive rigs as well. Your jeep is looking killer Kyle!
good looking pictures looks like fun! Id like to get out there one day
silverbullet 04-20-2009, 09:38 AM come this saturday!
DaveC 04-20-2009, 08:24 PM Awesome shots guys....and x2...the run this Saturday is going to be a blast.
Tom and Kyle; hopefully we can meet up with you guys soon enough. I'm looking forward to doing 13 this weekend for sure.
