My wife's family needs to get rid of a classic due to some unfortunate circumstances (which is partly why I'm not taking it either :( )..

It is I believe a 69 convertible coupe - 6 cyl. It has been parked/garaged ever since I've known her for 20 years. I doubt it runs - supposedly did when it was parked, just parked due to a balljoint issue or something like that. Needs a lot of work, but point is it's a classic with all original stuff - I've even seen the orig owners manual , etc...

How do I go about assessing value for this? especially since it may not run, and need more work than the 'low' value... great project car.

My mother-in-law needs to get rid of it, and she's going to take far less than she should since she thinks it is just an old piece of crap. She can really use the money, so I want to be able to help her get rid of it but get what she should.

get in touch with SX201, real name stu...i believe he has an older project mustang and might be able to point you in the right direction of a pricing guide or appraiser that can give you an accurate price for your 'stang

I would think you'll likely need an assessor to help you.

NADA also has a Classic Car pricing guide:

http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-22-1-5006-0-0-0&l=1&w=22&p=1&f=5012&m=1065&c=13&z=73102&da=-1&y=1969&da-1

Looks to me like around $20k ???

Send me a PM with as much info about it as you can.

I have access to the full NADA site. I might be able to get you a PDF that looks all official too for buyers. Maybe.

I also may be able to get into their appraisal system, but not sure.

Get me the VIN if you can.

OdiN - It may be a couple/few weeks before I can get access to the actual car to get any more details.. Do you have a time limited access? I appreciate your help.

Never even thought about an assessor for something like this - thanks pops.

"SX201" wasn't recognized when I tried to PM... Do I need to add something at the end of the username?

Thanks all!

No time limit, unless I'm not working here anymore lol.

I may not be able to help though - couldn't find PDF option and it looks like they didn't give us the assesment program access.

Stu's screen name is S2X01.

And for a classic car, an appraiser is the way to go, that way neither the buyer nor seller gets screwed.
