Yep! I live in Peterborough! Have you done any mods to your vehicle? I'm thinking of doing a 2" BL. Have you done one? And if so were did you get the kit or parts to do it yourself?
Thanks!

Hey I'm from Peterborough as well!

My X is still stock, but I picked up the basics for recovery gear and took her out for some exercise on the fire roads around crystal lake and it performed the way an X should.

So if anyone knows of any fun spots close by, or wants to go wheelin' sometime, let me know.

Hi Sepherd,

I live in the northend. What colour is your ride? I've seen a yellow one around town. Mine is Yellow. I just put a 2" BL on it and getting 33" tires this weekend. Have you been down on the hogs back? I would also like to check out the Dyno road, have you been there?

Shepherd
07-28-2009, 04:05 PM
Hey, I live by the 7/11 in the west end. I think I've seen your yellow X around town.

Mine's silver with the factory brush guards, and I still have the big Xterra decals on my doors.

I haven't tried the hogsback, but that sounds like a good idea. Dyno road is just a road as far as I know, but there are tons of trails around there.

I went for a rip along Loom lake access road a little while ago. The road itself is just a hilly, winding fire road, but there are lots of little obstacles to the sides of the trail that are fun to play on.

I think a few guys I work with sometimes go to play on the trails around Loom Lake as well.

towely

hey boys. ptbo hunter if you get 33's with just the body lift make sure that the rims you get will not make the tires rub. i got 33's with dc-1 rims and they rubed so i went to a 31 and the rub a little still so be carefull and i wouldn't go to the hogs back. a honda can make it through there, if you wanna have a little fun go to post road. if you wanna have good fun go to cow path. if you wanna be daring go to the modle air port on 17 and try the road that runs beside it. if you try any of theses places let me know i want in!!

Shepherd
08-15-2009, 06:10 AM
Where abouts on 17 is this model airport? You mean Pidgeon Lake Rd from Bobcaygeon right?

Also, is there trails off of post road, or do you just mean the road, I'm by there all the time when I have to go to lindsay.

towely
08-15-2009, 06:46 PM
yes it 17 pigeon. its a field that is used for model airport. and post road south keep going down it till you come to what looks like an end and then you will see where the fun begins.

Shepherd

Most of the trail riding I've done so far has been on the trails between 121 and 507, by crystal lake. I think that's up by Cowpath Trail. There's a nice tour that you can take from crystal lake rd across to 507, or you can swing south half-way along and take the Fenelon trail back down to 36.

There's also some gnarly rock-crawling to be had on the trails off of milburn rd in Irondale. There's one called Miserable Lake Trail, I tried it earlier this year, but the water-holes were too deep, so I was only able to make it a little ways in. I plan to try it again when the water's not so high in there.

I'm also planning on cutting some private trails on my sister's property. I think that would wind up as more of an obstacle course tho, not so much a trail ride.

So with Post Rd, do you mean continue south after it ends at Mt. Horeb Rd?

towely
08-16-2009, 08:50 PM
well you take post to mt horib once you hit mt road thats the end of the trail its nothing serious

08-25-2009, 10:17 AM
Hey Guys!

I'll probably be up for ride this fall late sept or early october! I have to get the truck undercoated and a few other things. Let me know if you guys are interested in hitting some trails?
Oh... and towely I'm not sure what part of the hogs back you're riding but the last time I was there it was a mud bath. I'm talking about where the holes are that the atv's have chewed up. Anywho we'll have to think of some trails. Have either of you guys been down the minden hydro line?

towely
08-25-2009, 04:03 PM
well i haven't been througg the whole hogs back, late sept or oct sounds good. i have not tried minden hydro but i wanna. but i will let you guys know when and we will make a day of it.

Shepherd
08-25-2009, 06:17 PM
Right on, I'll look into the hydro line, I haven't got a chance to tour that one yet.

My rig's kind of useless in heavy mud right now tho, because of the crappy tires that came on it when I got it used. Maybe I'll be able to afford some new shoes by october, if that's when you guys were thinking. I was thinking about Dick Cepek Crushers, but I'm a little wary about putting them on my daily driver.

towely
08-25-2009, 09:10 PM
well i got claws on mine. they are a lil loud but not too bad. if i was to do it again i would have gotten something else. make sure when you get them that you put them on your stock rim or else find somebody who really knows what they are talking about when it comes to off set and clearance

ptbo_hunter
08-26-2009, 05:16 AM
Sounds good guys can't wait!

towely
11-23-2009, 08:58 AM
k so we need to get together some night soon for a coffee or something. And you guys need to get on to cntc.

Shepherd
11-23-2009, 10:04 AM
It's true

I got some new shoes for my rig too. So now it won't get hung up on every bit of loose or wet ground out there.

I was out touring around Loom Lake this weekend again. :)

Lemme know...I'm usually free on weekends, but weeknights are generally a write-off.

ptbo_hunter
12-17-2009, 09:02 AM
Sorry guys I haven't been on in awhile. I agree we should get together sometime! I am on the cntc site. Towely what is your user name on the cntc? Maybe in the new year we can hook up! Shepherd, I still haven't seen your truck yet around town, there's not many with the xterra writing on the bottom like yours.

Shepherd
12-17-2009, 10:23 AM
Shepherd, I still haven't seen your truck yet around town, there's not many with the xterra writing on the bottom like yours.

That's strange...I'm constanty driving around Ptbo and the surrounding towns. It's pretty much all I do, because the place I work for does all of the inspection work for the city, the utilities commission, the hospital, and Trent U.

I've seen you around a few times. I think I saw you drive through the construction site that was on Sherbrooke a couple times while I was working there, and a few times up around Parkhill on the way between the university and the hospital.

So far, I think I might have the only silver X in Ptbo with the door decals, and as soon as I get chance on a weekend, I'm finally gonna get rid of the stupid brush guards, and move the hellas to the bumper.

Damn brush guards

Cool techx, I haven't seen your rig around town, but I'm not in that area much these days.

Wherever there's construction in Ptbo, you'll see my X around there eventually.

And Mike, I was working around minden and haliburton for a lot of last summer for the road reconstruction and the bridge replacements, hopefully I'll get a few contracts up there this year. Join CNTC, there's a weekend tour on the minden hydro line.

ptbo_hunter
03-16-2010, 10:10 AM
Hey Towely,

Sorry I missed your call. I'm assuming it was because you guys were heading out? Where abouts did you guys go? Lots of mud?

Shepherd
03-16-2010, 05:27 PM
It was a deep little hole they found down in the industrial section off Fisher. Towely and Tech were a little hung up, nuthin' serious, but since I was close by, I came down to help out. It only took a couple of pulls to get Towely out, then he pulled Tech out backwards.

It was handy that the area around the mud hole was still hard and frozen, or it might have made for a bit more work.

I gotta do a little front end work before mine's ready to play, so I didn't try to take mine through the hole, but we'll have to remember that spot for later.

towely
03-16-2010, 07:08 PM
ha ur going first shepherd. and yea ptbo hunter I called, like shepherd said we were in a hole lol. How did the install go?

ptbo_hunter
03-17-2010, 05:03 AM
In a mud hole eh! The install went good. If I were you I would seriously do the diff breather mod. All I did was pry the cap off and unscrew the nipple to make sure it wasn't blocked. I used the original nipple and 1/4" hose, but if you plan to use the original nipple I would use 1/2" hose, the 1/4" was too tight. I'll probably upgrade to 1/2" hose eventually. It also turned out I have the LSD rear end. After I dropped the tire the orange sticker was barely hanging on.
Shepard/techx are you guys in for next weekend? Towely you as well?

Shepherd
03-17-2010, 05:14 AM
What have you got in mind? The mud hole again? I might like to take a run at the hill they were trying to get up as well. I'll see how the water-level is in some other areas around town too.

ptbo_hunter
03-17-2010, 05:20 AM
You haven't checked out the canadian nissan truck club site? There is a guy having a run just north of buckhorn next sat the 26th. Check it out if you get a chance.

Shepherd
03-17-2010, 05:32 AM
Oh, I didn't noticed it had been moved to a little later. Cool, maybe I can do a little tinkering this weekend, and try it out next weekend.

I'm a CNTC member myself.. I was at a few meets in the Ottawa area, however I have been moving around a lot and most recently relocated back to Peterborough.

Originally I am from Peterborough, but grew up in Buckhorn, so i know some trails and areas. It's just nice to go with some backup! ;)

We should hit some trails once it starts to warm up :)
