Somewhere in this picture is a 1992 Geo Tracker. I fashoned a tow bar for it, so you can take it home or just hide it in the bushes. It is 4x4 auto, pretty fun for work or play. I am hard on it, and it takes a fair beating. I put goop in the tires..most expensive repair..............repair ECM $172.00 Funny thing to break huh........

I have a bunch of toys, but everything is sitting waiting for time to do it.

I have an 82 Camaro that has been sitting for a number of years just waiting to be rebuilt.

I have a 69 ThunderJet 429 (w/ C6 tranny) sitting waiting to be put into something.

I have a 79 Fiat X1/9 that needs a total restore.

My father has a 65 Corvair hard top two door that is a project car that I need to finish before I can start on my Camaro.

There is also a 78 KZ650 that I have been wanting to rebuild for shits and giggles.

Most of my "toys" are non-motorized. I have over 35 paintball guns (many old, rare or custom), I have quite a bit of recording gear (enough to cut you a CD), I have lots of photography gear, and I think I am down to 4 computers now.

Yeah, my only problem is that the garages where most of those things are stored are not setup for restore work. My father has a nice 2.5 car garage but it's full of crap and my garage where all my tools are is a small 1 car. One of these days.

Ok, here's my toy, my wife calls it "The Other Woman", and won't ride in it. I've had it for 9 years too. It's my only toy, otherwise, I lead a very boaring life. On the lighter side, my side steps arrived for my new Xterra, and I got them mounted. They look great.

matt_sr
04-19-2006, 08:16 PM
Yea, I like all the 70's groups. I spend about half the day driving, and I do it listening to my home burned 70's cd's. Styx is right up there. My kids have no appreciation for 70's music. I always tell them you can't spell crap without rap. We don't have sonics up here, and the nearest McDonalds is 10 miles down the road in Waseca. It's got Bassani X pipes on it, no cats, and flowmasters. It sounds beautiful. And it's not really a sleeper, it says superchared on each side of the hood, that kind of gives it away.

Dude, I live 4 miles from Stewart Airport which is also an AFB. Last Thursday, we had a C5 fly over our house. Man that thing blocked the sun!!!

We also are close to West Point where the Army plays football against the Airforce. For a display, they had 6 of those helicopters with two props, followed by I think 12 Apache helicopters, then some more of those helicopters with 2 props. All of which flew over our house at about 100 feet overhead. We were in the pool at the time and we were able to wave to the pilots and they waved back!

Cool stuff.

I love it the power is great, however mine is modded to 367 horses at the wheels. The handling is good but not great. The car is fairly heavy, what it lacks in cornering it more than makes up for in power. Gas mileage isn't that bad either I average about 16.5 mpg wich is about the same as my X.

Whats a 165 degree stat? and what it the benefit of a "ported" MAF?

matt_sr
09-09-2006, 08:57 AM
A 165 degree stat is a radiator thermostat that opens up the coolent flow at 165 degrees. This allows for cooler lower intake temps which keeps the air mass at a lower temp, thus more HP. Technically you don't port mass air flow units, you just buy one with a larger diameter. The one on my Mustang, being that it feeds a blower, is large enough in diameter to suck in small mammals like rabbits, beavers etc...

I meant to say I have porrted maf ends, wich allow it to flow at 1000cfm.

Doesn't the CPU negate any gains like that by sticking to the factory program mapping? I mean, if the computer sees anything different than what it has been programmed to conceive as the norm, wont it just try to adjust everything so that it conforms to what it has been preprogrammed to produce?

That is, assuming you haven't reflashed your CPU? ...

matt_sr
09-09-2006, 06:30 PM
Not in the Mustangs, the Ford EEC unit is self learning, you can do any amount of mods and the computer adapts to them. As far as I've heard and understand, GM does not have that ability. I've been told that any mods you do to your corvett, camaro or firebird, require a cpu flash. Probobly why they discontinued those models and the Mustangs still sell strong. One of the guage pods on my "A" pillar is a fuel/air meter, with all the mods I've done, the EEC-4 still keeps that thing nicely centered. I have a crap idle, no converters and some other issues, my brain box doesn't get confused, when I step on it 500 big ones go out the rear tires.

My WRX was the same way. Also adapts to your driving style.

BOOFER

Those learning systems, although they're adaptive, still follow premapped performance curves and statistics. They will change performance curves, shift points, and accelerator response to the driver. But the learned response is simply a fuzzy logic choice the CPU makes between a few premapped out performance curves.

Any mods you do will upset the balance of ANY one of the algorithms your CPU has been preset to follow, but, considering the CPU operates on fuzzy logic, it has the latitude to make simple decisions in order to compensate for the change, and ultimately force the engine to conform to the factory's predetermined performance map.

matt_sr
09-10-2006, 09:40 AM
That is true for the 94-95 Mustang GT's with the eec-4 system. One of the more popular things to do is have the air/fuel remapped. Being that there's not much available for doing that around here in the line of speed shops, I kind of do the same thing but on a manual level. I have an adjustable fuel regulator and FMU, this allows me, to some degree, to get around the computer. The eec unit does try to compensate for it. You can also purchase from Ford Racing, a module that plugs into the eec-4 unit and allows for manual air/fuel mix levels via several dials on the side of the box. It sells for 300 bucks and ford doesn't make them any more. I've only seen them on ebay.

Here's my new steel. The Springfield XD45 (.45acp). It's a real tack-driver too.

All of my gear is in that brand new Osprey Aether 70 pack covered in the Osprey rainfly and Marmot raingear (which I now refer to as my Xterra wash gear).

I bought a lot of toys last year... my Xterra being one of them.

So in addition to my brand new Xterra, most of my other toys have 2 wheels (thus the screen name).

My 2 wheeled X (the cruiser) - Honda VTX1800C (http://www.geocities.com/caioder/vtx)

My ROCKET - Honda CBR600F4 (http://www.geocities.com/caioder/cbr600)

And the mountain bike - a Schwinn Moab.

For the non wheeled vehicles; snowboarding and snowshoeing.

Toys for all the wonderful seasons and conditions Colorado has to offer!

rEPOSTING: The Jeep needs to be documented.

Here's mine...

My 2000 Jeep Wrangler. 4.0L 5spd, NO AIR (because a/c is stupid in a Jeep). So far, I've upgraded the headlamps to Delta-Tech H4s, K&N filter naturally, got some Mastercraft velcro J.C. handles, replaced the generic 4x6 speakers up front with a new bracket and 5 1/4" Pioneers, 6 1/2" Pioneers in the sound bar, an Alpine CDA-9847 head unit, powering a small Kenwood amp that runs to my 10" Punch Stage 1 subwoofer. I have that enclosed in an old Bazooka tube.

Naturally I'm not going to put JL Audio gear in my softop Jeep! The tube acts as a theft deterrent actually, because no one wants to steal one of those! (And you can't see that it's been gutted and rebuilt as a real sub enclosure!)

Me mudding on the 117 acres of property we own:

http://a152.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/104/l_1590e86b320d6d1fffb22410454788c7.jpg

And the first excursion off-road the second day I had it three years ago:

http://b8.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/01211/81/20/1211090218_l.jpg

I plan on running the BFG A/Ts off of her then putting a budget boost (a good one with new shocks not just coild spacers!) and 32"s to start and go from there.

And here's the first Nissan I ever owned; a 1990 D21 Hardbody: (This is the only digital picture I have of her.)

http://b1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/01211/14/65/1211975641_l.jpg

My uncle died and this was given to me. When I got it in '97 it only had 69k on it. I went on to drive over 213K miles with it. Two engines, complete body-off resto. I ordered every OEM accessory you could put on it, push-bar, step-rails, you name it. I added OEM stuff like delay wipers and fog lamps using OEM switches. The only thing things that weren't stock were the 30x9.5x15 Brigdestone Deueler A/Ts and the Borbet CW1 wheels.

It was a 4cyl too! I took this truck everywhere. This was my baby.

I had to trade it in three years ago on the Jeep because she was having some structural rust issues. I didn't have the money to keep her on the road. It was a sad, sad day...

EDIT: I'm stupid...I meant 4X2's or whatever the hell those super skinny crappy dash speakers are in the Jeep.

Kinda hard to explain.... Im an EMT/ vol. fire fighter and I see a lot of bad wrecks... Ive came acrossed a lot of horrible ones, and most of the bad ones are with small cars like that. I feel very safe driving my x, but in that thing, it feels like a little sunfire could run over the top of it! Haha, and not to mention its an exspensive vehicle and Im very protective of my x let alone the lotus! :aufkopfhauen-big:

Ricer-X
08-26-2008, 02:07 PM
i guess that makes sense, my wife used to be a firefighter

but the lotus' frame is far stronger than any other automotive frame of its size, its glued together rather than welded which is stronger and lighter, the lightweight of the vehicle also helps prevent the car from crushing on impacts

alas, i digress

even more than the elise.. i <3 the Exige

you have mroe pix of the elise? is it the beamin orange color? bc thats also my fav color

You can't tell but my brakelines are limiting my flex there.
We also have some pretty serious go-fast machines, a street legal Porsche 911 twin turbo, two 993 cup cars, and a 996 GT2. The GT2 puts down something like 650 HP at the wheels, and that's with the "smaller" turbos. I'll try and find some pictures later.

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o280/sailwa66/redbird%20052408/STP60466.jpg

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o280/sailwa66/redbird%20052408/STP60468.jpg

It's a cut Samurai tub over a full custom frame, 4-link f/r, coil-overs, Mazda rotary motor, 130:1 crawl, turning brakes, etc/etc/etc

And the reason I tolerate the 18mpg X in the winter is that this baby gets 8-10kmi per year of abuse:

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o280/sailwa66/multi/STP61183ret.jpg

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o280/sailwa66/multi/STP61163ret.jpg

It's a 2004 Ducati Multistrada, with custom bash plate, crash bars, quick-disconnect Pelican case mounts, PIAA light mount, supermoto fender, rear rack, hand guards, etc/etc/etc. This thing rails on dirt roads and two-track... nothing like roosting at 90mph!

I can't leave anything alone.................

DaveC

That "Zuk" (or what's left of what the original Samurai was) is very impressive.

sailwa66
02-09-2009, 12:37 PM
Haha... yep not much "Suzuki" left there: 1/2 a tub, tcase, the axles are hybrids (Rear: Sidekick center, Samurai axleshafts, and Front: Samurai center, Dana 44 knuckles/axleshafts), and four wheel discs.

The billet gearshift knob has a Suzuki logo.... does that count too?
