OK,

I was getting onto the highway today and my friend thought it would be funny to shift me into neutral, I tried to stop him and the gear shift slapped up into park. We kept going although it seemed we were still in neutral, I had to apply the brake to shift it back into drive and thit seems to be no worse for the wear. Everything is fine and sounds normal. My question is does anyone think there might be tranny damage? I would appreciate any thoughts.

Thanx,
Tim

No, I dont think so. The parking mechanism of your tranny has a locking gear that wouldnt be able to engage at that speed.

I would seriously have a talk with your friend before he get back in the truck with you next time....

Oh and Welcome to Club X!

Tell your friend that you took it to the dealer, and they had to rebuild the tranny. Then tell him he owes you the $$$. Then when he comes up with the cash and you tell him its all a LIE, he'll be so happy he didn't hurt your X that he'll just hand you the money.

Its ok.. you didn't hurt it. You could put a tarnny in park at high speeds and normally it won't damage it..

You'll just hear it clicking very loudly.. its got a safety mechanism.

Thanks all,

I feel better about it now, but I would still like to show him my spare tire.

redo your shifter. Change drive to nuetral.. then have him get in and go "dude look what you did!" and just sit there in d and rev it.

Just an idea.
