Just dropped it off at the body shop. Should hopefully have it back by early next week.

What happened?

What happened?

Hit a deer on our first road trip! We had the vehicle less than a week, needs new light assembly, front grill, new bumper skin, fog light, and tweaked the left fender.

Sounds like a perfect time to get a Shrock bumper. ;)

I was just thinking that.

Yep - that's what a TON of people did...told the body shop not to order the expensive OEM replacement crap, and to let you get a Shrock instead...they install it instead of the other crap...you get a real bumper essentially for free.

:D

By the time the shop BUYS the OEM crap, paints it to match...parts and labor...vs just bolting on a Shrock...its a win win for all involved.

:D

Even when the shops just don't order the OEm crap...so you get a $450-600 credit, and they deliver the truck to you bumperless...you can bolt on the Shrock in minutes..its an easy install...a few bolts..DONE!

This could get complicated.

I can imagine the call to my insurance co.

"I was at an Xterra meet, when all of a sudden, we all began deliberately crashing into one another. The only damage was to the front & rear bumpers"

Next call:

Hello Shrockworks?

"Hi Geico, I'd like to report an accident... well um, an 'on-purpose' I guess"

Well I tried to explain that to the daily driver of the X, she didn't bite. I asked the body shop the cost of the parts and they were $300 less than the shrockworks bumper.

What was the opposition to the Shrockworks from the Wif? Just curious. Mine isn't a fan of the looks. She said it reminds her of some of the Law Enforcement Amored vehicles used by SLED and SCHP. I think that adds to it's credibility. (ok silly mindset I know)

hahaha NICE!
I think i might use the dumb blonde approach...
"ummm I'm not really sure what happened, one minute i was stopped and the next i was moving rapidly towards a tree"

"I was just driving along and what to my surprise, my bumpers fell right off. I must have hit a pot-hole or something."

I think she said "I like the way the vehicle looks now, it seems to be smiling" She would of went through with it though if it was the same price. Money is a little tight right now since we just finished our house addition and still have not sold the malibu.

:laugh-big: Funny thing is about 2 weeks after we hit the deer we were heading down I-5 to go watch some sprint races and a dang deer crossed our paths again. He was just like standing on the side of the road, real creepy. Told our friends crap it's DEER 2 ... This time it's personal! They have been calling me the Deer slayer at work for the past month.

Hopefully nobody was hurt.

did you keep the deer?? Please don't tell me you let it lay along the road.

See I would have explained to the better half that if you have a nice steel bumper out front that the next time a deer is hit, there will be little or no damage done to the truck.

Wow, if we still lived in Jersey, I would be using that sound logic on my wife right this very second. But the deer don't play in traffic as much up here where the forests are made of trees instead of townhouses.

TJTJ
08-08-2006, 09:05 AM
Yeah, but sometimes you can't see the trees for the townhouses.

We might get it back this Thursday! The body shop needed to order more parts due to more damage that they found, (of course!)

So - what's the bumper status?
