Hey, its off topic, so I might as well ask Reguardless thats its an X forum.

Anyways, for anyone that has helped me in my previous thread you know I have a 1991 190E Mercedes Benz. This car as of now is ocmpletely stock.

Today I may have done some drifting in it.

Quote from thread at other forum

My dad is getting surgery on his knee, so my parents are in Wenatchee. About 40 minuts away. And (pics below) I went up to the top of the hill I live on, and went to do some drifting.

Was fun, and I got good. Even with some J turns (where you reverse fast; E-Brake; turn; let off E-Brake; go!)

Anyways, about the steep edge..: What happened is I came down a hairpin turn (90 Degree) and I hit the E brake. I fish tail it good. I stomp on the breaks, and reverse to take a picture. And then, after the picture is when it happened. I freakin gun it, hit the break, fish tail (all on purpose) and the gravel made the car slide a bit to much, which in turn made me over correnct to each side, and as soon as you know it, wham! Im just sitting there in the dust, saying wow. As my dog in is in the back seat, loving every moment of it.

Anyways, we just kinda went up and around and exploring, (with a bit of drifting on each sharp corner).

To clear this up, it was all on a Private road, not public.

Oh yeah, and lightening hit that tree.

Anyways, out of curiosity, how much strain does this put on the E-Brake, suspension and allignment?

Edit-
If anyone is wondering, thats Lake Chelan, in Chelan Washington.

Is this all part of that responsibility you were planning to show your parents?

And just curious, did you just go see the Fast & Furious Drift movie? I dreaded that movie comming out. I have a 350Z and ever since that movie opened I cant drive more than a mile without some kid in a riced out Civic revving his engine at me

Despite how confident you feel, at your age, you in no way have any kind of driving skills. You dont even have a license. You've just been lucky so far. What would you had said to your dad if you wrecked his car?

Your description reminds me of:

"So I was like OK, go for it, and I put the coat hanger in the electrical socket, but, it was like ZAP!, and oh man, I didn't know what happened, so, I just sat there with my new afro, chillin."

:D

You were doing things that you didn't know how to do...most people are well aware that gravel, ice, snow, wet roads, a coating of toads, etc, are lower traction surfaces, and know to compensate.

Most people know how much correction is enough, how to take a set and let the suspension catch up, etc.

You were getting ahead of yourself grasshopper.

:D

When I was a teeenager, I could do all of the non-rigged stunts in James Bond movies, snap spins foward or reverse, 4 wheel drifts, etc...and if my father had seen me, he'd have been lets say, displeased.

I did roll a car doing handbrake turns, with three freinds in it....in front of a cop car. It was 3 am, rainy, and I didn't see a lip in the pavement where they had started repaving, it hit the lip sideways, tripped on it, and rolled.

No one was hurt, we all had seatbelts on, and by sheer serindipity, the cop had other priorities, and I didn't even get a ticket.

I could have killed or injured myself or my friends.

When you lost control, anything COULD have happened...but, it didn't. You were also lucky. I've had (HAD) freinds who were not as lucky, and they are now dead...because they wanted to try something, or they "Always" did a particular stunt...and once, it didn't work...the last time.

Lets jump ahead to you getting a new vehical, assuming with Dad's blessings...maybe tread a little lighter?

:fussball-big:

Get the feel of driving itself down pat...obviously, you do NOT know all that you need to if gravel was that much of a surprise traction coefficient...wait for black ice and other things to show up.

:D

Walk before you run, run before you fly, learn it all, so you don't have to die.

He wasnt home ;)

Lets just say that I was getting it; and the speed out of my system before I did anything of the sort in public. However I could be cited with reckless driving as that is a state offence - Reguardless of public or private road.

Probably wont do it again for a good while either... (my car also needs a hell of uh wash)

But seriously, you cant tell me that when you were my age, you didnt go out and have a bit of fun with out the parents.

And I did it because its down a hill, and the gravel isnt going to hurt my tires as asvault (sp) or conrete would.

Lol gotta learn some how. And thats nothing any of my friends have done, or like my parents will teach me :D

I know that gravel give less traction, but I may have been a bit to cocky at that point, when I did it. It was my last 'big one' before I went onto the paved part of the road.

Too true.
