Well, guys...spring isn't far off.

Are you guys wanting to maybe do a Mod day and get few things taken care of with extra set of hands? And check out Tuff's new "ride" in progress...haha.

OR

Are you guys wanting to do a 4wheeling run at Coal Creek?

I'm thinking since we've had somewhat new members the last few months, maybe we'll have a little bigger turnout for either Mod day or CC Run?

What you think?
Fire away!

I don't have any mods planned that would require more than myself but if others have a body lift or something they want to put on, I'll be glad to help but I'm all for a trail day. I think that loop we took after you had to leave was a good one for anybody even running stock setups. Then we could step it up to like 3,4 and 5 to push the limits if anybody is game.

Tuff's X is pretty much finished, he just has a lot of kinks to work out of it. I know he's got to be dying to test it out.

Well, first of hand, I really need to get those darn TRAs done....Just gotta find me a air ratchet first to get a hit on it then I'll be all good to go since I'm hoping to get 33's within next month but we'll see.

It really doesn't take long to swap out your TRE's but without an air-ratchet, it can be a real PITA. I had to do it trailside twice in the same day and it was very irritating to say the least. The way I did it without an air ratchet was I turned the steering wheel to put the tie-rod in a bind against the centerlink so it wouldn't spin freely. I recommend only doing this as a trailside fix because it is next to impossible to get your alignment back right afterwards.

I'm thinking later in the month might be better for me but I'll have to doublecheck the schedule at work to make sure I'm not going to be out of town any of the weekends but I'm pretty sure I'm clear until April.

I'll keep asking around for air ratchet...if not, I'll give in and get one and keep one as trail tool then.

What's gonna happen if Tuff breaks in CC? lol it'll take more than 2 Xterras to haul that rig outta there, haha!

I'll wait til I hear from others interested in this and I'll post up a poll with possible dates and we'll go from there.

Go up to Harbor Freight and get you one. Depending on the size you need you can get one for less than 20 bucks. I would be interested in going, but I dunno if I will be able to or not with school and a bunch of trips coming up these next few months. I do need to do my BL lift though. I got the bolts, just need to order the pucks whenever I have enough money to spend on them.

Where is this CC Run?

tameroflions

is in Coal Creek ORV which is in spring city TN. a pretty good drive for you from down in savannah. its a little over 3 hrs from atlanta to give you a reference point.

i am considering making this run...depends on when tho, cause i'd really like to get my bumpers and tires first...and i still havent gotten a reply from richard for a time frame on when it should be. im really hoping for soon. its been like 2 months since i actually ordered them...but he didnt get started till this month, so im really not sure. and i cant get the tires til after the bumpers cause the spare wouldnt fit underneath.
and i also have to save up for a new amp for my stereo, which is going bad, so that comes before tires. but that will only be a little over 200.

Hey bro, if you haven't heard from Richard, don't sweat it. I haven't either and he hasn't been active on NOAS or Ronin in weeks which is kinda making me worry that something may have happened to him. I know his job was on thin ice as they had cut his hours in half so he's probably got a lot of burden to bear right now. He's been doing this for many years and he's never skipped out on anybody but I'm sure that there is something keeping him from what he wants to do because he is normally a daily visitor at NOAS.

yea, im not sweating it, its just strange, like you said.

ok, time to stop procrastinating and get ready to go to school.

Tuff

Don't worry about Richard - he's completely covered up with orders and stuff... I don't think he's had a free weekend to relax in a while, and I know he said he was going to be booked up at least through feb doing stuff on other rigs... and I don't think any of that stuff is even getting to work on his own rig. If I were him, I'da been burned out by now... heck, I'm burned out just working on my own truck lol. Like any good quality product, he'll get it done like it should be, it just takes a while with all the work he's got thrown at him.

As for me, I keep getting more and more things jump up on me with my truck. I doubt I'll be ready any time in the month of feb for taking mine offroad (heck, it's barely able to drive on road at the moment) and likewise my shop is covered up with stuff everywhere, so my place is off the list for a mod day for the near future.

and coal creek ORV isn't in spring city, that's where I live (and I'm an hour away)... CC is up near oak ridge. (oliver springs to be exact)

tameroflions
02-10-2009, 12:36 PM
spring city, oliver springs. same thing.

yea, i trust him, i know hes good for it, i just really want to be able to get them asap, and i cant get the new shoes till i get the bumpers.

Well Bummer about your X, Tuff, but there's always another time for 4wheeling then.

Again, bummer about your shop being off limits but its all good, hopefully you'll get it settled and fixed soon.

Looks like Mod day location will be at Daniel's cabin in Elijay, GA! :mocking:

We could have a mod day at my house. I have just about any tool you would need. I need some help putting my skids on anyway. After we finish we can head up to CC its only about 30 - 40 minutes away. I live in Halls by the way for you Knoxvillians.

TN4x4Xterra
02-18-2009, 07:55 PM
Not far from where I'm at to Halls.

Its an idea! Whatcha think guys?

tameroflions
02-18-2009, 08:11 PM
im up for that...i need to trim around my 4wd shifter, i cant engage 4lo

i think there were a few other mods i wanted to do that i couldnt actually do w/ my own tools.
maybe install some reverse lights.
when are we thinkin about doing this? needs to be after mid march.

TN4x4Xterra
02-18-2009, 08:14 PM
Yeah, mid-march will have to do for me too. If I haven't gotten those damn TRA's in the X by then, that'll be the only mod I'd want to do there then.

tameroflions
02-18-2009, 08:15 PM
oh yea, i was gonna get some new tra's too...but i'd save those as trail spares like drake was suggesting.

TN4x4Xterra
02-18-2009, 08:17 PM
Well, I need to upgrade my TRAs with HD TRAs though before I go 4wheeling otherwise I'll have a bent TRA like Drake did....

Drake
02-19-2009, 06:40 AM
I'm down for it. Mid to late March for me as well. I've got two local club runs that I may be doing the first two weekends. My work schedule is day to day literally though so I'll have to keep tabs on it as well but it should be clear.

Im still needing a bl and pml! Im up for anything if I can get off for it.

Drake
02-19-2009, 08:12 AM
Well come on over! We can knock it out in no time and have you sittin' pretty. That is when we get the dates set. hahaha

And Daniel, trimming for 4-low can be done in no time. I did mine with tin snips but if we do a mod-day at Shawns then I will try and get a cutting wheel from the shop here and it will do a much cleaner cut. Not sure how it is on yours but I trimmed about a 2" square behind the shifter to clear mine.

tameroflions
02-19-2009, 09:36 AM
i havent even looked at it to try to see how much i'd need to trim...i dont have any of the tools to do it, so theres not any point for me to pull everything apart just to look at it.

yea, we can get that pml and bl done real easy chantale.
i really cant think of any mods i need to do...other than maybe some backup lights. ill just give stevin some wires and let him do it :) he seems to be good w/ lights. too bad shaun wont be there.

TN4x4Xterra
02-19-2009, 12:09 PM
Haha I'm thinking about relocating my side lights to the rear also too since I seem to be in the need of more light in the rear when backing up at pitch dark places but it shouldn't be hard to do for yours, Daniel. Just a positive wire with infused link to the light to reverse wire and ground the other and your all set....unless your wanting to have them come on when the reverse light isnt on?

Chantale - Get your butt down here and we'll do it! ;)

Yea for real man.. thats just too far away for me to drive on a weekend when i've got school the next day lol

Sounds good to me, Daniel.

BTW - Just wondered this....Have you like designed the bumpers for Richard to fab up or are you letting him surprise you with his designs? or is he like sending pics of the progress to you?

If we don't get to do the mod day before then (I'm pretty sure I won't be able to), you should try to make it to the NOAS run at Coal Creek in May. I have a thread ongoing there to get interest and an idea of who all is coming. It should be a good turnout with some awesome rigs and really good people (including Stevin a.k.a. TN4x4Xterra hopefully) and a few other members from CX.
