Hey dude, congrats on paying her off!
Here's some thoughts from my perspective.
Keep in mind that, financially, a vehicle is a losing investment. So any money you spend on it, you wont get any return on it.
That being said :) ,
I see two options.
1) You spend a lot of money modding out what you have now (mods for imports are not cheap!) And once you catch the modding bug, generally it's wont ever stop...
Or,
2) Look into trading up to an 05 or an 06. The newer ones get 265 HP right out of the box, no mods required. :)
If you compare the diff between what you'd have to spend on the new truck, vs. what you'd spend on mods on your present (depreciating) truck and future resale value of both I think you'd be happier with the new one over all.
I know you probably don't want another car loan but lets face it, I'm 40, I have 3 vehicles and I'm still paying 2 of them off. What I mean to say is that you'll always have a car loan, unless you're rich.
Well anyhow, I've blathered on long enough. Hope some of this gave you some food for thought. :)
Oh yeah, welcome to clubX! Whatever you decide to do, there alot of super friendly, super knowledgeable peeps here who are willing to help you with anything!
By the way, try not to type in all caps. I don't mind it, but some people equate that with shouting on the internet...:)
Take care and see you on the board!
Let me know if you need anything.
I hate modding for the sake of modding...I like to modify what needs to be changed to make it do what I need it to.
If you are off roading it, the mods that follow improve the off road abilities, if street only, then another mod pathway would follow, etc.
:D
Whatcha need it to do that it can't now?
:D

Well stated.
Hazertmed 07-31-2006, 01:55 PM Welcome! Paid off, now that's something to be proud of.
EPPITBULL-XTERRA 08-12-2006, 10:56 PM Thanks guys,
I wasnt shouting, but I was pretty excited about getting some responses.
Right now the X is my baby, shes my first, one and only. I just want to fix so things like the defective front driver side window that doesnt work, and I want to remove the front bumper (its a bit messed up). Im also going to have to retint the windows since they got permanent water spot stains, so it never looks clean. A nice paint job would be nice too! Just to bring out the appearance of toughness that the X has earned over the past few years. Maybe when Im done with college Ill buy a newer X.
rusty_nuts 08-13-2006, 12:41 AM Welcome to the site. I've only been here a few days and I love it already. Here's a link where you can find sone cool stuff for the X.

Nancy 08-14-2006, 11:18 AM Hey! welcome to Club X! Yea get a shrock or ARB bumper. they're both awesome.
Anthony 08-14-2006, 11:34 AM Hey! welcome to Club X! Yea get a shrock or ARB bumper. they're both awesome.
Advice from Scott (Daggerdoggie), who has both the ARB and the Shrock bumpers, is to go with the Shrock hands down. Better build quality / design.
Nancy 08-14-2006, 01:09 PM alright then, Shrock it is!
ugh i can't wait for the day when i can get mine!
Nancy - Shrock's better as discussed.
They both weigh about the same, but the shrock's thinnest metal is 3/16" thick steel plate, with 3/8" thick steel plate for mounts, the ARB uses 10 gauge sheet metal, with 3/16" as its thickest mount piece.
The ARB has a worse approach angle than stock, the Shrock's approach angle is the best in the industry.
You can mount any winch on the Shrock, and its fully protected...the ARB limits you to top mounts, and the top of the winch is exposed (Some people like that though)..and the ARB is not rated to mount a 9,500 lb capacity winch either...not strong enough (ARB's are Limited to 9k or less).
Both have good powder coat.
Shrock has recovery points that run directly from the frame - as one piece front to back...welded as it passes through the bumper on both sides...ARB doesn't have any...merely tabs welded to the bumper face, to hang the winch hook on (They rip off if you pull on them too hard...a feature I believe unique to the ARB).
The Shrock allows 35's with room to spare...to fit even 33's, you have to cut off the ends of the ARB bumper to make room (Which is at least easy as the metal's so thin...a whiz wheel even works...)
In short - if choosing between an ARB and a Shrock, Shrock wins hands down.
That said, some people just like the looks of one or the other. I prefer the Shrock there too, but that's subjective.
TJM also makes a good bumper btw, just to add confusion to the decision making process. Shrock has the most of the same advantages over the TJM, but, the TJM at least is at least 3/16 and 1/4" steel, no sheet metal...but the wings still get ripped off, etc. It is very sturdy and well made other than that though.
Calmini has one as well...sturdy, most of the same disadvantages, plus its paint falls off.
Kentucky Mountain Accessories (KMA) has them too. They seem OK, but have trouble it seems getting things to line up straight/fitment issues from time to time.
:D
Nancy 08-15-2006, 01:28 PM Wow i didn't know there's was such a difference between the two. Of course i always promote Shrock, because he's the man, but i didn't know what exactly the disadvantages of ARB and the other ones were.
Great write up TJ.
DAWG, U DA MAN ! <---that was one of my rare attempts at ghetto-ness
