So, I got a fairing for the roof basket off of a 2003 Xterra. it is a better design and it wraps the front around. That's cool!
What's not cool is that it has a little bit of white paint residue on it from the previous owner. Does anyone have an idea on how to safely remove the paint from it?
I thought about using the original Goof-Off product, but that stuff is too strong for it...
Ideas?

Wash it, prep it and repaint it. I'm not sure I would chance any kind of remover on the plastics.

x2. repaint it, and while youre at it, paint the rest of your plastics w/ it!
You could use an acetone based rubber parts cleaner. It *may* work. But you also have to be careful because it will eat plastic depending on type. If you're careful and wash it off good after you are done, it could be done.

I think you guys are underestimating the plastic a bit. Just use some paint thinner, or mineral spirits, the plastic is going to be just fine its a very durable material. The goof off would be totally fine as well, no need to repaint IMO
Also depends on the paint. I had some on my trim when I bought mine that I tried to get off - nothing that I tried took that crap off. Had to paint over it.

Well, I don't want to repaint it because other than the paint spot, it looks flawless and the painted area is small. most of you would probably leave it alone, but I am just too OCD :wink-big:
Goof-off is too strong. I tried it on underneath the roof fairing and it discolored the plastic. I am going to try the mineral spirit next, but will also test underneath...
Thanks, dudes....
