I think you all know I am in the Air Force. I just found out last week that I have to go to Iraq for 6 months. I will be working at the Embassy in Baghdad(?) managing a computer database of all the detainess in the country. I hear it is about 12,000 now.

Anyway my wife is sick about it. I was getting ready to buy a sportbike and now I will miss the whole college football season. If you can't tell I like the Georgia Bulldogs. :traurig-big: :traurig-big:

Wow, I have known about a dozon guys who have been over there at least once in the last three years and you are the first I knew to have a desk job. I always knew the Air Force was the smart branch to get into.

I take it it's the first time you have been deployed into combat? If your wife needs someone to talk to I have a few friends who have been over a couple times now and they both have wives that got use to it. I can get them into contact with you I am sure.

Well you know usually I wouldn't put out a Georgia fan that was on fire, but anyone brave enough and honorable enough to serve our Country deserves my utmost respect and help any way possible. God Bless You.

As a woman, I understand your wives point of view completely. It would make me just as sick to let go of the person I love for six months to go to such a place. But, I'm sure she is proud of what you do and will make it through ok!

I'm not going to pretend I know how things are over there but, is it safer to be working in the Embassy than in one of the base camps??

No I am still at Maxwell AFB, AL. I am Air Force. I wont be doing any training with the Army before I go.

But I probably will be in Columbus a few times before I go.

Where do you work? If you are ever in the JAG office say hi to my mom. Ms. Gunn in claims.

I'm out at RTB and try to stay away from jag as much as possible.

I've been out for 22 years now, but I salute you and what you're about to do. In some ways I'm very envious, you and others like you are getting to do something really important that will impact the future safety of our country, I sat behind a radar scope for four years and didn't see any action. It would be nice to wear a younger mans clothes again. Please take care of yourself.

I made it to Baghdad. I am working at the Embassy. It is very nice. I am working one of Saddam's palaces. It is a great place. There are marble walls and gold fixtures in the bathroom. The palace is great. But don't get me wrong it is still a war zone and from time to time you can hear the war and the booms.

Sorry it took me so long to see this. My job is very busy. I work for the Central Criminal Court of Iraqi. We prosecute the bad guys. The Army and Marines catch them and we take them to court. Anyway I would love to post some photos here. Can I email them to you?
