Hey guys, I have a frontier now but since they are pretty similar I wanted to get your $.02 on PRG suspension products. All the guys on the clubfrontier forum are recommending it. Any thoughts?

its pretty much all the same. Everybody is super impressed. I will probably hit them up. Im thinking of doing the 3" coilover setup. So let me ask a q, the 3" spacer lift really only provides like 1.5-2" of lift right? cause the spacer is 3" but the end result isnt that much. am i correct here?

Nope. If anything, it would be the other way around. The spacer provides 3" of lift but is physically smaller than 3". It's in the Q&A on PRG's website. http://www.prgproducts.com

I must be blind, Ive looked at the site but cant find any info on this. Im talking about the front end lift. Not the rears. On the Q and A the only thing I saw was about how someone ordered a spacer for 2" but it was only 1.25" in size. Greg answered saying that its all about leverage. So thats what Im getting at. Maybe I misunderstood. Either way...the new coilovers setup for a 3" lift is going to be better than the spacers it seems like.

That's the one I was thinking of. The 3" Kit has front spacers that are smaller than 3" but they give 3" of lift. The spacer is gonna be something like 2.10" or something and when you install it, the fender will end up 3" higher off the ground.

This would only be the front because it only does that on IRS. The Rear Blocks will be actually 3" or whatever amount they are gonna lift for.

What about the CALMINI SHACKLE SUSPENSION KIT?? Is that going to be equivalent to the PRG setup of a basic lift package?? check out the two options....

The only difference I see is that the Calmini shackle is not adjustable. Kinda funny that they say "This CALMINI suspension kit will lift the Xterra by 2-3" like they don't know if it'll be 2" or 3". - lol

lol thats a good point! So i assume PRG link has the better setup? One more question if i may! on this site:

http://www.prgproducts.com/shop/product/xterra_basic_lift_package/

Do I select the upgrade option bubble for the deaver 2 leaf spring pack?? lol a bit confused!

Pops

That's your choice. That's just upgrading to replace the entire spring instead of just a shackle. The Deaver is stronger than OEM for hardcore offroading.

Here's pics of both: http://www.prgproducts.com/shop/category/xterra/rear_suspension/

Ok, again thx so much for your help! So were clear by going with the entire spring, you DON'T buy the shackle as well right? If I'm understanding correctly the 5th option down would be a good choice all around (2"" Xterra Leveling Kit w/ PRG Deaver 2-Leaf Spring Pack #prg-2mke11-x $289.00)

I've heard that PRG is hurting, and may not stick around much longer. If you get something, I'd ask how long they'll support you on the purchase. Just a rumor, take it for what it's worth.

I'd doubt there's much truth to that rumor. Last I heard, they were starting into the Toyota side a little bit and will likely venture that way as the Titan reaches its production end.

I hope they dont fold... another Nissan supporter is the last thing that needs to fold.

Well, I'd say this pretty much looks like that rumor is false and the hearsay I was told is pretty much on track:

http://www.prgproducts.com/shop/category/toyota/

And FWIW, it was back in October that I heard about them looking into the Toyota Tundra and later planning to add the Tacoma and maybe possibly even into the 4-Runner if there's enough market in the SUV side.

My Editor and I were talking, and I just called him to double check. He and I got our wires crossed, it wasn't PRG, it was WRP.

To many letters as names.

Sorry 'bout that. Carry on citizens! :D

Pops

Whew!!! WRP is a whole different story. William (Will) ripped everyone off with those POS Pulleys of his. They were a great idea but machined a hair off to cause belt slippage. He was barrowing a car club's shop to make his pulleys and got booted out because of all the people he PO'd who wanted his arse tied to a tree.

That's one of the reasons I want to get a mill/lathe for myself. Not to mention all the other stuff I could make with that little jewel.

Pops
01-15-2009, 08:14 AM
WRP left a very sour taste, especially since his power gains were all false and unproven lies. It would take alot of effort and the word of a few Titan members in your area but there is a market for those things if they actually do allow for any gain.

Oh, I'm not going for any of those products. We've dealt with with Will at the magazine. I don't think any of us with project vehicles has put any of his stuff on. I especially won't do anything engine-wise with any of his spacers. But that's just me!

The things a mill/lathe would allow me to do/make would be for off roading; adapters, widgets, etc..

That's even better yet!!!!
