Hey guys,
Long time Nissan fan here. I'm currently looking into buying a 2WD 04 xterra XE here in town. Was wondering if there is anything in particular I need to look at when going over it. I test drove it a few times and it seems like it idles a little rough, but I've never driven an xterra before so my comparison might be off. Currently I have a 95 240sx (looking to sell) and an 04 Altima.

This is the car I'm looking at right now.

Welcome.

The rough idle might no be a good thing so be cautious. Hard to tell with limited info and access to trouble shoot it.

i dont think its really rough, im comparing the idle to my altima, which basically sits completely still.

Dude, you need to go drive more than one. I'm talkin like three or four. And you live in SC? Bro! 4X4 No other way! Too much fun to be had in your neck of the woods! You're smack dab in the middle of everywhere to wheel on the east coast! Check autotrader.com and do some shopping around. There are really great deals to be found out there.

How much for the 240? How many miles? Pics?

idle should be smooth at around 700 rpm after the engine warms up a bit

definetly drive a few more, keep your options open

i went ahead and bought it. The idle wasnt really that bad, and was fine after i drove it a little while. I LOVE it though. I'll post pics later. What are some things I need to do right away (other than standard maint. stuff). Is a cone filter or cull CIA make that big of difference on these?

'95 240sx 5 speed. Paint is pretty rough but it's mechanically sound. Pretty much stock other than a cone filter and a few interior things. Asking 2,000. 180K miles. I'll post pics later today.

Cool, post some pics of both. It's a little high in the milage department for the 240, but we might be looking for another one anyway real soon. One of our 240's just got smashed when the roof of the building that it was being stored at just caved in a few days ago, (from the weight of the crazy snow we've been getting). We stlil can't even see it or get to it to see the damage yet, because of how much snow and rubble there is, lol.

Crazy, it's the same color as the one we have that just got smashed, lol. Pretty nice car really, not bad for 180k.

I'm hoping we can get ours unburied tomorrow and see what's left.

After a whole day of removing crap loads of snow and broken trusses and roofing, we finally found the car, lol. Crazy, the whole roof caved in with thousands of pounds of snow on top and it hardly did any damage at all to that 240sx.

Some dents in the roof, smashed windshield, flat hood and a dent in the quarter panel, but all together, not to bad at all.

Don't get me wrong, the cars isn't worth enough now to spend the time to fix it, so we're just going to part it out. Would still make a hell of a drift car though, lol. (that was the original plan for it, SR20DET swap)

Kinda sad though, this car only had 90k miles on it.
