Hello there everyone.
I have a 2001 Xterra that has some mean looking rust spots on the rims. Just wondering if there is anything I can do to make it look alright or would it be easier to just replace them with used clean ones?
any suggestions
Thanks in advance
I had a set of steel wheels that were getting crusty. Simply sanded on them and sprayed them with some hammerite, turned out good and the paint has held up well 12 years on. However even though the paint held up the actual weld bead on the 40yr old rims started leaking so ended up replacing them anyway.

go to any paint store, auto part stores also have wheel paint. you might want to put a satin clear on top of them as well.
I've heard True Value carries it up there.
Just be careful and follow the directions, it can run/sag really easy.
When I used it, I was down in Southern Cali so the temp/humidity was about perfect for painting and even at that I think it took the better part of the day before they were tack free, and I let them dry for a good 3 days before putting them back on the truck.
YMMV (your mileage may vary)
