Yeah, I think they were only offered in 2002 as manual with a supercharger and 4X4

Yep. Thats correct. Good luck finding one. They're around but hard to find.

I heard from a friend at a Nissan dealer a year or two ago that between 00 and 04 only 2% of all the Xterras made were manual trans models. Not Sure how true or accurate it is but I kinda believe it.

you probably have better luck buying a non super charged 4x4 then finding the super charger for it in my opinion

looked at 2 yesterday. almost bought one today but walked away at the last minute. they're out there. scour craigslist, auto trader, cars.com, etc.

edit: forgot to mention, the supercharger only provides boost at wot instead of an all round boost which sucks. i personally wouldnt be able to keep my right foot off of that pedal and therefore fuel mileage would suffer solely because of that lol.

I don't know where you guys are getting all of this anti-supe info from but either I've got a rare model or somebody is getting misinformed. My '04 S/C gets around 17.5 mpg with my standard tires and 14 mpg with 33's. Superchargers run continual boost regardless of what model they are. The Eaton M62 that is on the xterra only pulls about 7.5 lbs of boost and you will only HEAR the supercharger above 2500 rpms but it's continually boosting. The M62 has a bypass valve for highway cruising speeds to conserve fuel which is the ONLY time the supercharger is not pulling full boost.

Not to thread jack or anything but is there a way to aftermarket SC say an '01 X with the Eaton M62 or something similar? Has anyone done this?

I must be lucky. I just got my Xterra two weeks ago and I managed to get an '02 Supercharged 4x4 with a 5 speed. Another deal told me that they are hard to come by but I didn't realize just how hard.

It is very possible but I believe the add-on is pretty in-depth and labor intensive. I think somebody may have discussed this once before but I could be mistaken. I've read of a few guys who have done it to frontiers so it's definitely doable.

Umm...being a new guy here, I hate to have to be the one to say that you are not quite accurate. I have an 03 and it is supercharged. It is also a 5sp manual. Maybe Canadian models are different? I do know that my insurance considers it an "upgraded model", as in fully loaded. It has every option available. Strange though, cuz I always thought an auto tranny was an option.

ya....I am beginning to think I must have a rare model as well. I actually get pretty good gas mileage with mine. I am not so sure it is under constant boost, though. mine seems to kick in at around 3200 rpm. from 1st gear through 3rd, depending on how I am accelerating, I don't notice so much what it is doing, but in 4th and 5th and cruising, I can feel and hear the boost at 3200 when I am passing someone.

I have a friend who has a non.sc model, and he burns as much gas as I do. I have also tried his ride, and he has tried mine.....we both agree, huge difference in performance. After owning a supercharged model, you couldn't give me an ordinary one. well, you could, but I would just sell it to buy a sc model...lol.

I have a 2003 XE non S/C 5 spd manual, I'd say that maybe 90% of the X's I looked at were automatics. I dunno, I just prefer the stick shift, I find it offers better control and is damn near bulletproof with proper care and maintenance. I hear bad things about the 2nd Gen's clutch assembly though....premature wear issues.

I have an '04 4x4 S/C 5spd. I found 2 '02 in Southern Ontario on autotrader.ca. Out of all the Xterras listed, it was less than 10% that were 4x4 S/C. I don't think I saw any 2nd gen 5spd at all, and certainly none with a S/C (then again they have a higher displacement engine, which shouldn't "NEED" a S/C). Moral of the story, it's a pain in the ass to find one... And what's this of only being able to tow 3500 lbs with the 5spd?

I have not done enough research, so I have no idea what the difference is between a 1st gen and a 2nd gen X, but I surely must have a 2nd cuz I had to change my clutch last year at about 70k miles.

Yes they exist (2002 5sp S/C), I had made multiple inquiries at various dealerships about their availability all of which were denied. Its amazing how little some salespeeps know about the products they represent: at one nissan dealership I asked about pricing and availability of a transponder key for the vehicle I was sitting in (05 maxima) and the salesguy asked me what kind of car it was! Anyway, some patience and further research revealed Xs were in fact produced-I bought an 02 privately for a screamin 5700, possible they were also available in 03. If you can find one grab it....recently there have been a few listed in the Denver area. even if the charger is bad/blown an OEM Eaton S/C is around $650.

On a side note: does anyone know where to pick up an underdrive pulley, have a recommendation for an intake/exhaust, or know of a used shrock bumper/tire carrier?

Thanks....sorry if my posting doesn't fully comply w/ forum rules...I'm pretty green as far as this stuff goes. Hope to talk to and meet some new Xers in denver/boulder (or any othr area).
Peas,
