Looking for round lights for my Shrock bumper coming in February. I plan to use them on a daily basis for road driving. I get off work every night at 11:00 and see like maybe 5 cars on my 25 mile trek home through deer infested roads. I know the law is that you are not allowed more then 4 forward facing lights on at one time or at least I think. I have about $150 to spend. Round is what I'm looking for. Considering Hella 500 series? I really like the grid stone guard looking things though. What size should I go with? Post your bumper pics if you have them. Need suggestions...

I've got the 500's in the fog beam pattern. Really wide flat output.

that is correct and its the law here in FL too..but i have 11 lol yes 11 forward facing lights...but the law usually dosnt care about little things like that here.. rule is if ur gonna have em just keep em covered...but then whats the pointtt lets say u have to use them real quick..? ur not going to get out and take the covers off lol...i got 4 hella 500 up front and love them..they are on my bumper and then i have 5 baja lights up top on the rack...those are ok..
but the best thing is ebay...i picked up 2 sets for $80...thats a steal

Yea, I am in the same boat as you. I was actually planning on asking like the same exact question in like two weeks. I was thinking PIAA but I really don't know. I just want brightness, all around light.
good luck on you lights, let us know how they turn out, with pics of course.

I bought the Hella 500...They are great. Install was pretty easy. I think almost everything I needed was included. I installed a grounding strap between the frame and the bumper.
I have one complaint. The plastic covers that came with the lights cracked when the weather turned cold...20 degrees. Tried to upload a pic with no success. I guess I don't know what I am doing???

Wow didn't know the Hella 500s were that popular. As it is currently I'm planning on possibly getting two for the bumper in a Fog pattern. Two for the roof in a driving beam pattern. This way when it's foggy out I can swap covers with the ones on my roof and have good fogs. Then when its business as normal I can use the long distance roof lights. How bad is it with roof lights though anyone with a silver X get a bad reflection from the hood.
Some of the higher end Hellas are really not that much more. I'm still not sure if I want to go bigger then a 6"er.
I see on some sites Hella sells the grid stone guards for the 500 series. But on other sites they are listed only for the 5000 series.
The Pro comp lights look awesome with the silver rims as it would match my scheme perfectly. But, they have no covers and they use the nonDOT 100w bulbs.
I love the way the PIAA's look oh so awesome! Be jeez $250 some bucks for plain fogs I think not. I work in the ghetto I could picture them getting yanked after a few days.
I'd also like maybe better headlight bulbs to supplement the package. Thinking about wiring them directly to the battery too, when the ABS kicks in I get a headlight strobe effect. Wiring them direct may give me more light as it appears they are tied into other circuits that draw power away from them. Then ultimately upgrade the alternator and battery to be done with the project.
