31's trimming a little plastic. 32's with a lot of plastic a maybe a little metal. but for a hunting just get some definity 31x10.5 MT's for $100 each from pepboys (buy 3 get 1 free) excellent mileage, siping for rain and winter, road side warranty and heard good reviews about onroad manners. also remove step rails, rear sway bar, and lower mud flaps. trust me....

Why remove sway bar and mud flaps, just curious. Im a fj40 guy, know nothing about this xterra beside it sucks on gas mileage. lol

well for one even if you dont wheel the X the rear sway bar will hit the pass side shock and cause it to fail... and the mud flaps just cause in minor wheeling they will get caught up and crack so to save the trouble of breaking them we just say to take them off..... if you can go outside and look at the rear pass side shock and see if there are and scrapes or dings from the sway bar....

almost as bad as my 73 fj40. I think its going to be a fun huntin vehicle though.

Thanks man, probably not too many dings on this one, never been off of pavement. Probably too nice to hunt in but I guess i have to get it broke in sometime. It has an extreme package that came with leather. Is there a cheap way to lift these a couple of inches?

even if it hasent left pavment i bet the shock is still messes up..... and do a search on a PML ( poor mans lift ) you can get about a 1.5" for less then $65 and if you want more you can go with a 2" BL for less than $65

YEAH
poor man's lift(shackles and torsion bar crank) will get you a safe 1.5" suspension lift, then the cost of an alignment

then you can peice together a 2" body lift for around $70, there is a thread in the how to section about it

don't forget to take off the side steps!.... they cause more damage they they are worth. 4 bolt per side. sell them on ebay for $100....to offset cost of tires. good hunting.

correct, most 16" tires would be sized using the aspect ratio system(265/70/r16, etc.)....unforunately, they are more expensive than traditional sizes (31x10.5xr15, etc.)

some companies might size their tires in inches for 16"s, but not many

If you have 16's you can go up to a 265/75/16 (pretty much a 32x10.50) with just cranking up the torsion bars to level it out. My 2002 doesnt rub with the same size and only torsion bars turned. Then for a little more room get some shackles and crank the torsion bars up a little more to level.

https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=435_436_398_520&products_id=145

or

http://www.purenissan.com/heavy_duty_shackles.htm

the calmini are easier to install and paint won't last very long (you can repaint)

So if I have stock 15" xterra wheels I can go upto 31" tires and only have to trim minorly in the front? The shackles just replace the old ones? How do they cause lift?
