: Final Piece of Armor...
akordboy 06-29-2006, 11:07 AM Just purchased my final piece of "armor"...3 month old Schrock rear bumper w/tire carrier. Haven't gotton it on yet. I have to take my stock hitch, frame stiffeners and bumper off first. Probably get it on tomorrow. I'll post some pics after it's installed.
Muzikman 06-29-2006, 11:40 AM I am still waiting for my rear bumper and full skids from Shrock. I hope the Skids get here before ECXC.
ggunn 06-29-2006, 01:45 PM Do you want to sale that stocker bumper hitch?

Yeah, I actually do.

What trails are you running at ECXC?? Just an FYI, if you're careful, you can run without them. I ran rocky garden at PAP without them and didn't sustain any damage.
Jim isn't the fastest person getting stuff out, but as you know, it is well worth the wait.
Muzikman 06-30-2006, 09:22 AM Not sure which trails yet. I'll be with WPAXC and we are going to try and stay in one or two groups, so what ever Dana or Jeremy want to run will be what I run. :)
akordboy 06-30-2006, 09:33 PM Dana seems to always lead the stock groups. Some of the stock trails are nice to run.
I'm probably gonna run green 3's/blue1,2,3's.
What day are you getting there?
Muzikman 07-01-2006, 06:53 AM I don't think we'll be running stock trails, most of us would be bored out of our minds.
I'm getting there Wednesday.
akordboy 07-06-2006, 11:06 AM stock trails are nice when you just want to have a relaxing day of wheel'n. And it's alot of fun to run them sometimes too.
I find if I have to do stock trails, I just take the worst lines I can find to spice things up...go backwards, etc.
Whatever it takes to stay awake.
:D
The wife said she'll go wheelin w/me...so wheever that happens, I'll be doing stock trails...I'll have to calibrate her "OH SHIT!!!" factor before doing anything above that.
The last time I tried to wheel with her...I all but went deaf from all the screaming...We're going to DIE!....We're going to Flip Over!...AAAAAHHHHHH!.....Stop!!!!!! YOU CAN'T DO THAT ITS IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!....LET me OUT, NOW!!!!
And that was just the ride up...never even got on a trail.
:D
Muzikman 07-07-2006, 10:10 AM Well, my skids will be there on the 11th.

Sounds like my wife whenever I drive with her in my Z.

Just in time for ECXC!! It's funny....everybody always rushes to get the last thing done right before ECXC.

:) I have a whole list of things to get done before ECXC. Besides the skids, the big thing is the on-board air. Though I only have half of the parts currently.
USC Justice 07-08-2006, 01:07 PM Guys, not to thread jack, but would you mind explaining to me what you mean by stock trails and so on? I'm from the deep south, and when we used to go wheeling in high school and so on, it was just out to undeveloped land in and around the mountains nearby. Are there trails that you can take a 4x2 on?
Forgive me for asking, but I am uneducated in this regard.
Thanks,
Donald
Alley 07-14-2006, 07:12 AM Stock Trails would be anything you can take a vehicle you bought off the lot down without doing damage too it.
Some trails require ground clearance and flex to get over some rocks and stuff.
Now its mostly approach angle and stuff that allows you to do that some are better than others. So, its usually up to you where you wanna risk taking your stock vehicle ..... and how upset you get with body damage.
Ask Muzik about his rocker panel on some non stock friendly trails before he picked up his sliders!!
Yeah - the trails in the off road parks are broken down by color codes, based upon how technical/difficult they are.
As explained, a stock trail can be challenging for a stock rig (Not a just a dirt road, etc), but not have giant obstacles that require special equipment to clear, etc....say rocks that you can just clear with 9" of ground clearance if you place your tire correctly, etc.
The moderate trails may require a stock rig to be well driven to make it w/o damage, typically to rocker panels and undercarriage components, or a rig with some armor to be driven badly and still survive.
The more advanced trails may require armor even for an experienced driver, and, as they get more advanced, lockers, more armor, a roll cage and harness, etc.
The Poconos based parks use Green, Blue, and Black for what well equipped X's typically can do, and Red for what a loaded for bear Jeep might do, etc.

Speaking of skid plates...

OK, what do my Skid-Row plates look like after extensive skid plate testing?

In short, they are beat up, but not dead.
They don't cover as much as the Shrock or Black Panther stuff - but all of them are 3/16" steel, and the attachements are similar.
If doing it over, now that they're other options besides S-R, I'd take the other options.
:D
OK, in answer to que - that's anti-freeze dripping off there, not oil....the head gasket blew, hence me being under there...
