Hey guys,
I posted this in the Modification forum but I think it might get a little more traffic here:
My GF's got an '03 X with the Rockford Fosgate system ... is there any way to add an auxiliary input without an FM modulator?
I've found some adapters for around $80 that tap into the BUS port in the back? Those work?
Thanks for the help,
Josh

Well, after about 2 days of searching and more searching and researching ... there's no premade adapter to add an aux. input for an MP3 player to the RF stereos ... except if you're good with circuit boards and soldering, you can use this guide (http://www.xterraownersclub.com/cgi-local/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=38;t=003536;p=).
You guys probably already knew that already, but no one responded, so I had to investigate myself! :2cool:
Since I'm pretty good electronically, but not THAT good with soldering small circuit boards like that, if I get an aftermarket HU (I'm pretty well-spoken when it comes to audio equipment), what are the procedures I need to follow to keep the rest of the RF system running correctly? Of course, I'd want her sub to still work ... anything special I need to do to make sure it does??
Thanks!
Josh
Yeah some questions make everyone sit back and go Hmmm, in that case you have to be the first to blaze the trail of knowledge for the club. Thanks for looking into it.

Yeah ... she didn't really like the idea of taking her nice RF out ... even though I used to do installs, LOL.
Can anybody suggest a quality FM transmitter? Not a little rinky-dink one ... one that actually works and provides an acceptable signal.
I don't have a specific one in mind but griffin makes a lot of goodies : http://www.griffintechnology.com/category/car

i really don't know what all it would take to keep the factory amp working.... maybe if you find a schematic or if you pull the radio you might be able to figure it out...
