: Looking for good Bumper with fog lights
chumpmann 06-20-2006, 11:16 AM I am looking at all the different bumpers for my 2002 X.
Do you have to get rid of your fog lamps to get a replacement bumper?
The pics I have seen they do not have them.
I will get lights for the front of the grill but wanted to keep my fog lamps, is there a bumper someone could suggest?
thanks
Muzikman 06-20-2006, 12:39 PM As far as I know no after market steel bumper for the first gen X's have real foglight holes. ARB, JMJ, Shrock, Calmini, etc.
What people have done with the Shrockworks first gen bumper is to put lights in the winch access openings (The square openings in the lower front of the bumper. Seems to work great as long as you don't have a winch.
If you are looking for driving lights, (Like the Hella 500's) most after market bumpers have mounting tabs or holes in the top of the bumper to mount them.
Here is a pick that has Hella 500's on top of a Shrockworks bumper...you can also see the square holes, below and on each side of the license plate.

chumpmann 06-20-2006, 04:29 PM The pic didnt come up, I will try to see it at home.
Yeah, I like the fog lights as extra lights, with lights added to my grille guard I would have 6 total lights, but if I add the bumper I lose 2 lights.
I will look at the Shrockworks, see how it would look.

Yeah something like that, you know when you go camping and run out of light, or need to light up the driveway for some b-ball, or just scare the hell out of people in little mazda miatas and what not.
akordboy 07-06-2006, 11:12 AM the only year that comes with the fog light holes made into the bumper is the SchrockWorks '05 bumper. For the other years, holes are already drilled to mount off-road lights.

There are holes in the bottom of the bumper to install lights? or are you talking about lights up in front of the grill?
If there are holes in the bottom for some lights, that is what I am looking for.
Muzikman 07-14-2006, 10:47 AM Those holes are there, but they are not "FOR" lights. They are actually to get to the winch. They are at such an angle that with some easily fabbed brackets lights can be mounted there.
I do have to ask, TJ, how do you engage the winch with the lights in the way? In the 05 Shrock bumpers the holes look the same, but there is no way without that hole that I could get to the lever.
chumpmann 07-14-2006, 11:10 AM If I get the bumper I will not get the winch, I do not need one.
I just want to be able to mount fogs down low in addition to offroad lights on the bumper.
I just reach under the bumper to hit the clutch if I need to free spool...Reaching through those little rectangular holes would be harder for me.
I did run Warn's remote winch cable from the solinoid pack, to the top of the bumper, so I can simply plug the remote winch control into the jack on the bumper top, instead of reaching down into Pine Barrens Bog Water to hook it up.
:D
I can't IMAGINE using those holes to reach the lever...I even tried, my massive guns just don't fit. :D
...its harder to do that than to just reach under the bumper...the holes are barely an inch higher than the bottom of the bumper anyway...so even if I had skinny little stick figure arms, I'd only be reaching an extra inch anyway.
