Hey guys

Newbie here, and very glad to be. I have an 05 X. I'm in need of some new tires and was wondering if i could get some input. I live in Vancouver British Columbia. We get mostly rain here in the winter, but I ski alot. The mountain i ski at, has a crazy gravel road and is quite steep. My question is, what brand and size of tires would you recommend for me? I do alot of winter driving as well, through high mountain passes that get quite a bit of snow. any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

BFG A/T...Nitto A/T...anything A/T (reputable brands) would be a good fit (IMO)

Should I go with the 265's, or step up and get the 285's?

You'll get rubbing with the 285's = you will want to look into melt mod (http://www.clubxterra.org/forums/showthread.php?t=6021) or cutting out some of the plastic wheel well lining and add Herculine.

265 will fit fine.

Honestly, I wish I went with 285's now. They were only $150 more (over the total) than what I payed for on the 265's.

I went with the Bridgestone Deuler A/T Revo's at a 265 last winter. I couldn't believe how much better they were in the snow and rain than my stock Coopers. They are on the expensive side but I did a lot of research before I put down the cash. The BFG's would have been my second choice.

I live in a VERY hilly town, the manual transmission vehicles absolute worst nightmare. When it snowed I took her to my rescue squads large parking lot, put her in 4x4 and could not for the life of me safely try to get it to spin. With the old tires, while tricky, you could get them to lose grip after the tread got packed with snow.

My suggestion is Bridgestone Deuller A/T Revos

Any time, I was surprised to read that you mostly get rain in the winter in BC?

BC's not that far from Seattle and we get a good amount of rain here during the winter.

In Vancouver we get tonnes of rain. But go up 2500 to 3000 feet and its a winter wonderland. Whistler sits at 2000 feet above sea level, and there getting snow at the moment.. The only place in BC that gets little to no snow is along the coast. Everywhere else gets lots of it and cold as well.

Ahh, Whistler, my home away from home during the summer time...

I miss A-Line already! Well that and upper and lower Crank-it-up.
