: Just got my new to me X yesterday...
Rodie 11-05-2008, 07:59 PM ... first trip to the garage. Bad first pictures, for the time being a virgin 2000 SE, but I am VERY happy. Looking forward to taking part in the forum, and getting to work in snowstorms!
I'm going to try to attach half-a**ed pics. My new X and its stablemates...

silverbullet 11-05-2008, 08:21 PM Welcome to CX! Where you from?
Jdubbau02 11-05-2008, 08:34 PM welcome to the club!
Rodie 11-05-2008, 08:36 PM Cleveland, OH. Getting ready for the snow! Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Looking to do some mods -- but the thing that is driving me nuts right now is no front wheel center caps on the car. Well, there are caps but the Nissan logo is missing and they don't match the rear centers.
Yes, I'm anal I guess! Are the caps easily obtained at the dealer?
twest -- sorry to hear about your BMW. Mine has 160K on the clock and is still running strong (still take a few shots of N2O on occasion!) However, in the snow we call it the PimpSled.
Rodie
TN4x4Xterra 11-05-2008, 08:37 PM center caps run you about 40 each at the stealership last time i checked.
btw, forgot to say but welcome to CX!
Rodie 11-05-2008, 08:42 PM Another $40 piece of plastic -- I should have expected that!
I have been looking at other X's on eBay and none of them (at least the 4WD ones) seem to have these intact. Do they continually fall off or was this by design?
Thanks for the welcome. Anyone local drop me a line I may need someone to help me turn a wrench!
TN4x4Xterra 11-05-2008, 08:45 PM Haha well when your 4wheeling, its gonna be bound to pop off on the trails so if your gonna do that, might as well just leave them off. No sense in wasting $160 for all new 4 of them. Just letting ya know.
silverbullet 11-05-2008, 08:52 PM Dont waste the money on the caps, they get lost or destroyed offroad. Get Warn locking hubs with the cash instead. you'll be guarnteed to be in 4wd all the time. rather than believing your autos are engagned and then at some point you realize they aren't
TN4x4Xterra 11-05-2008, 08:59 PM Which reminds me, I need to pop mine off before long when I go to CC sometime in the winter.
DaveC 11-05-2008, 09:13 PM Welcome to CX!
Those front caps are supposed to be that way on 4x4 models. No center piece at all actually. If you took them off, you'd notice they have a hole that lets your stock auto hubs show through.
You can fit matching rear caps on them though, no need to have the auto hubs exposed. First gen. Frontiers have closed caps over their auto hubs. Don't know why they decided to not do that with the 4x4 Xterras.
I agree with what's been said though; get yourself some WARN manual hubs and never look back.
Great looking 2000 X by the way. Just in time for the winter drive!!
