: Water Repellent Spray?
Scorponok 10-23-2008, 07:05 PM I just saw a can of water repellent spray for indoor/outdoor seating at Lowes and I was wondering if anyone's ever tried this as opposed to forking out the cash for the neoprene seat covers? I love the idea of my interior being waterproof, but I hate the way seat covers look, and the neoprene ones cost an arm and a leg.
silverbullet 10-23-2008, 08:11 PM Keyword "Water Repellent". The neoprene will stop alot more if not all of the water from getting into your seat. Where as that spray will barely do anything compared to neoprene. I think the cloth seats and foam inside them are a little too porous and the spray may not work well. althought anything is possible.
TN4x4Xterra 10-23-2008, 08:16 PM Agreed with Ian.
Tried that one time on my boots...did no good for it when I had to cross a small creek while hiking....
Scorponok 10-23-2008, 08:22 PM Ahh, thanks for the replies guys. Guess it's back to the drawing board. =)

Try ScotchGuard. I had ordered in a '97 Caravan with a tan interior back in '96 because we wanted the double sliding doors that weren't avail on the '96's. So, I bought about 8 cans of ScotchGuard and sprayed the entire carpet, mats, and seats down. That stuff worked awesome. It needs to be re-applied every year or so. I only re-applied it for a few years and it still showed some signs of protection past 3-years after it's last application.

Sweet, I'll give it a shot and post some results. I thought that spray can I saw at Lowes was just Scotch Guard under a diff name, but it's been a few days since I saw it and I didn't pay too much attention to it, so who knows.
I wouldn't buy anything under a different name, ScotchGuard is the only way to go IMO.

Scorponok 10-24-2008, 10:08 AM Yeah, I was gonna get ScotchGuard, I was just saying I thought the other stuff was just ScotchGuard under a diff name. =)
I think the Scotchguard Auto Interior Protector is at WalMart and Target.

I feel ya bro! In the same boat myself after the huge chunk I just dropped on new tires that I'M STILL FRIGGIN' WAITING ON!
X~Terror 10-24-2008, 10:49 AM I bought the Nissan Neoprene fo 300 at the dealer...the whole set
They are a great investment.
It seems like a bundle of loot, but they are damn well worth it. I go to the beach all summer long and my seats never get wet!
You can find them used on Ebay, I see them all of the time.
If you want seat covers, the Wet Okles are a must see.

X~Terror 10-24-2008, 12:49 PM I had those in my Amigo....
Those were really nice covers.....
They cost me plenty more than $300 though
I've never seen them and don't know how they compare to the ones you have but everyone seems to rant about how awesome they are.
TN4x4Xterra 10-24-2008, 12:51 PM Agreed with Pops....never seen them either.

Scorponok 10-27-2008, 02:59 PM FYI I went back to Lowes today and it's actually waterproof stuff that you can use on things like outdoor seating. I thought it said it was made by Rustoleum, but I can't find any mention of it on their website.
IVIuzzy 11-03-2008, 09:00 PM that canned stuff only lasts about 4 months under normal use.
if you think about it your ass "sands" off the scotchguard or whatever product you use.
i reapply scotchguard whenever i wax the car. usually every 6 months.
there are various products out there. theyre all pretty much the same. its all pretty much personal preference
i use proguard that can be purchased here (http://www.prowax.com/aerosol.shtml) or through a local distributor.
