Hey, does anybody know of a good place to aftermarket wheels for an 05 Xterra? Or do they even make them.

Welcome to the Club!

I know there are a couple different manufacturers making aftermarket wheels for the Xterra. What kind of wheels are you looking for, Off road, show, just bigger?

American Racing Equipment, Enkei, MKW, and a few others already make wheels for our Xterras.

there's a couple places to get you a quick start. Let me know a little more info, and I'm sure we can point you further in the right direction.

Thanks for the welcome. It's great to be here.

Just something for for show more than anything else. I'm going to get a lift for it soon and just want to complete the look with some nice wheels.

What size wheel are you thinking? are you going with large tires, or low profile more sport oriented tires?

There's a bunch of great information on lifts here, but I would imagine that you have already run across it.

Glad you are here.

I plan on going with 33" tires on 16 or 17" wheels. I just want something in chrome that stands out.

Good luck finding wheels to fit the 05-06 X's without spacers.

There is one wheel that has been confirmed to fit (The Gunner 6 by MB).

There is talk that the Pro Comp 7089's will fit as well, but it has not been confirmed.

Remember, just becuase the bolt pattern is correct (6 on 4.5) and the backpacing is correct it doesn't mean it will fit. There is acaliper clearence problem.

I have two different wheels sitting in my basement that said they would fit and don't.

Very interesting, I didn't know that there were spacer fitment issues.

By the way, Xterror, which model and features is your Xterra?

Muzikman, which wheels have you tried that didn't work, and which stock wheels did you have? I would love to pick up a set of Off Road wheels to swap out from the stock S wheels.

I have two different model American Racing wheels. I can't remember the exact models, so I'll have to look.

Yeah, the fitment problem is the front calipers.

I have an Off Road, so I got the 6 spoke 16" wheels.

If you check ebay it sometimes has chrome OEM wheels for my model, but I have a 2000.

Mine's the S model with the 5 spoke wheels. I'm wanting to go to a 16x8 wheel to allow the 33's to fit.

You can put 33's (285/75r16) on the stock wheels without problem. Tire mfg suggests a 7.5" wheel and the stock wheel is 7", it's close enough that it doesn't cause problems.

Yeah, there are a ton of aftermarket wheels for the first gen X's.

Thanks, that's good news. Maybe I'll just stick with them until they start making some aftermarket wheels for the new X's.

ok, the new 05' / 06' X's are suppose to be the same frame as a Titan, correct? So, I would think that the suspension and brakes would maybe be the same. So, I guess I am asking is... I see Titan's here in my city with nice wheels, so, why would I be able to get the same kind of wheels...of course, I am prorably wrong,,,but, asking would they fit? is it that much of a difference in brake calipers and suspension? Just wondering or confused..LOL

Thanks

The X is the same as the Frontier not the Titan. I have not been able to confirm however that the wheels are the same.

OK, Here's a little more information now that I have confirmed it, and also that it's ok to post.

First, per the Nissan dealer, the 05+ Frontier and Xterra wheels are interchangeable. That is confirmed. Part numbers cross list.

Next, with regard to the issue of wheel fitment for the 05+ Xterra. I have spoken with a guy I grew up with who works for a wheel and rim shop. He has had 05+ Xterra's and Frontier's come in. He says that there are only about three companies that he can confirm wheel fitment, based on ones he has sold. Panther, Gear, and I don't recall the third. He said within the next 6 to 8 months there should be more wheels. They have 16 to 22 inch wheels available.

Further, he has offered that if we wanted to send anyone to him, he would give some sort of price break (don't know how much), and his shop would garuntee that they fit, and full return/refund if any wheels do not fit properly.

If anyone is interested, his name and contact information are as follows:

I looked at ARW web site for the "Fuel" wheels, but I wonder why the chrome ones don't come in the same sizes. I kind of like them in chrome.

One reason that you don't find many wheel replacements is that the tire pressure monitors on the 05 and up xterras require a funky valve stem arrangement. The sending unit for the tire pressure is bolted to a flat place that is machined inside of the wheel around the valve stem. If you find wheels that simply fit the bolt pattern, you will lose your tire press. monitors because they have to have the machined bolting area, and a huge valve stem hole. I don't know though, if the total removal of the monitors causes a low pressure light to constantly be on, or if there is no light due to being unable to read the sensors.

I decided not to use the sensors with my new wheels as I've had it go off a few times when air pressure was not low, and since I check my air every week or so anyway, I didn't see the need.
As for the light in the dash, it no longer functions as no sensors to read.

I have an 06 S with 18" American Eagle model 026 6 spoke chrome wheels wrapped in 285/60/18 Nitto Terra Grappler tires. They seem to fit perfectly as I have had no problems yet. The tires are about 31" and are just wide enough to stick out the fenders without rubbing. I live in the Bronx, and to be honest, I dont do much off-roading, but its the look I wanted. Look for rims that fit an older Dodge Durango or Dakota. The tire pressure sensor was a non-issue for me...I didnt even know it existed. Im a city boy, what do you expect. Im not sure how to post a pic on here, but in the meantime, if you wanna see my car, go to my AOL Screen name Nycskool50 (Nycskool50@aol.com) and click on my pics.
