Does anyone else do this? Perhaps I'm a little nuts, but I'm keeping a fuel and maintenance log on the Xterra. I have done it with one other Nissan that I had.
I'm keeping mileage, fuel economy, fuel cost, gallons bought, etc. Oil changes and other maintenance also go into this log.
I have officially had my Xterra for a month and a day. I have put just over 3280 miles on it in this length of time.
Anyway just curious if anyone else is tracking this or thinks it might be amusing. You can get the vehicle tracking logs at Staples.

I'm not quite as neurotic about it ;) but yeah I keep sort of a log... I suppose it's a log anyway...
Everytime I fill up I write down how many miles I had on it when I filled up and how many gallons I put in so I can figure out what kind of mileage I'm getting.
as for oil changes.. I do them at work and so they're logged in my computer at work :)

thanks guys. I feel so loved. Did I mention as an added bonus that it makes the wife slightly nuts that I'm tracking all this?

I have kept a log for all my vehicles. I have been meaning to type out my X log and post it so people can see the MPG go down after each of my mods. :)
I use an expense log book (bought at any office supply store). It's small and comes in a little plastic cover.
My log looks like this.
Gas Fill-ups:
Date
Total Cost
Price Per Gallon
Total Gallons
Grade of Gas
Mileage
Mileage Since Last Fill-Up (I reset the trip odometer)
Station Name
Location (usually abriviated)
I then slip the receipt in the back of the book.
I also note any mods or maintenace I do to the vehicle. I note things like;
Date
Mileage
Work Perfromed
Where the work was done
Total Cost of work (unless I was doing it myself)
I then slip the receipt for the work into an envelope that I keep in the glove box.
I am pretty anal about it and I don't know why.

There is a file that someone on XOC had created (which I am hosting at NJAX) that you might want to take a look at http://ftp.njax.net/dmpmfd/fuel_tracker.xls It works in the formula for MPG and fuel costs and has a graph to give a visual idea of costs etc.
I have to log for work, as I get paid to go off road, etc.

You are preachin' to the choir. With 2 X's to take care of I track everything. Cost Date Time Who What When Where Why & How. And of course the lady knows this so she just hands over any receipts and lets me do my thing. Just bought 5 new winter tires for hers and 5 for mine.:kalt-big:
Hopefully the snow will start fallin soon.
