she is now sitting on BFGs 33 M/Ts. waiting on some Bills 5150 12" travel shocks to come so I can even more flex out of her in the rear. I am now saving up for a ARB rear locker that should be in by March or April.

Awsome X man!

I like how you dont bother with the little stuff, you never fixed your drivers side quarter panel from that tree incendent. I like that syle.

My quater panels are in bad shape also, I hit a tree and the other day I slammed into my cleaning ladies car. The whole passenger quater panel is cracked, and it tore off. Just got some screws and the drill and put it back on, np. (the geniuses Nissan made the rear end out of cheap unpainted plastic, so it is cheap(er) to replace than other vehicles) God I love Xterras

Again, beautiful X!

lol...those wheels he had on there are the Cragar D Windows.

They ended up on the blue Yota pickup I bought from him last January, then ended up on my 92 FJ80 that I have since sold.

Those wheels got around.

Check on SummitRacing.com for those. I believe they still carry the D windows.

I would like to update my thread....

I had Mark (Papabear) install an ARB rear locker.

got the new Goodyear MT/R...so far I love these tires. They are a little heavier then the tires had in the past. I would recommend them

I added some AC shackles as my rear springs were sagging so that raised the rear up about an inch or 1.5 inches

This Saturday I will put some Herculiner on my X. Was thinking of just doing it around my wheel arches.

That is about it for now...just a few more scratches and some minor body damage from Rausch Creek a few weeks ago. need to get some new Warn hubs as I found out mine r busted and I couldn't use 4WD while I was up @ RC.

Some thing I have been thinking of doing as a next mod:

make some of kind of2nd floor in the cargo area. So I can place my spare parts under it and then mount my CO2 tank and sub on top of it.

Thought of sanding my sliders and re painting them either black or blue.

In winter or spring get some AC Tcase gears for 4LO

If anybody has any good ideas or any other comments please let me know.

As my X sits now:

Will be installing locking hubs from a '96 Nissan Hardbody (These are much stronger and don't stick out as far as my Warn locking hubs do.

New Bilstein shocks up front as I damaged one of them @ ECXC this summer when I turned my Tbar adjuster into a pretzel on a Black Rock garden and the front end slammed down. It did again while I was in a parking lot near my house when the Tbar adjuster finally gave way.

Also purchased new synthetic winch line by MasterPull. Hopefully will be in this coming week.

Lisa (The Wifey) is now wanting to drive her on some of the trails when go up to Rausch Creek on Dec. 12th...this will be her real 1st time on the trails....should be interesting :D

More mods were added to Blue X. She is now ready for Rausch Creek next Saturday.

Next mod will be the AC Crawler gears....just need to save up for those. There will be other little things but the crawler gears is what I really want. After those...I want to re gear my diffs to either 4.9s or 5.14s. The 4.9s should be cheaper to find in an old Frontier or X. if I go up to 5.14s those r gonna cost $$

Don't know if I want to SAS the Blue X...1st don't think I will ever have enough cash sitting away to do it right. Plus I have seen to many IFS Xterras just like mine still have fun on the Blue/Blacks, Blacks trail up @ Rausch & other off road parks. i really want a tow rig & a trailer...then I can beat on her a little more & don't have to worry about how I am going to get her home.

silverbullet
12-06-2009, 08:09 AM
Tow rig and trailer. The tow rig will also give you the New DD you've been looking for. A good 3/4 ton crew cab would be perfect for you

I finally found 2 Dodge's I like. I'll have to make a road trip to pick either up though if I can get the lone in the next 2 months.

You can't titan swap a 1st gen X

There would be ZERO benefits other than a wider stand.. :D

Titian swaps are for 2nd gens which have aluminum front diffs and blow up super easy. Titans have a cast iron? and doesn't blow up as much by a huge margin.. :D

1st gens have a cast iron front diff as well so you don't need to titian swap it.. lol :D

Nothing new for BlueX. Will be getting a SLR steering kit soon. Maybe get the front locked up w/ an ARB. I have some other ideas that I wanna get down but my son he will be coming 1st so it might just take a little longer. Still Love wheelin her and the crawler gears are Freaking awesome!!! Best mod to get for for sure!! It is amazing how the gears and the rear locker makes everything on the trails just a little easier.

HAHAHA sorry buddy but it would be the best $1K you would ever spend on that X of yours :D

Yeah I know... $1K seems to be the magic number for a LOT of things I want for my X. :hilarious:

I'm going to pick up a Skid Row rear bumper in the next month or so and after that, it is either going to be a locker or the gears hopefully by next fall. Just can't decide which to do first. I'm trying to decide whether or not to keep my 4.6's or get 4.9's before I get the locker and gears. But if I go for the 4.9's, it is going to push the other mods to the back burner for a while. Too many decisions! :D

I wouldn't mess w/ gears...I was about to do the same thing...but w/ the Tcase gears you really won't need the 4.9s...at least on the trails. Not really worth it unless you are going up to 5.14s. So just get the Tcase gears and the locker and you can just about tackle any trails...:)

I attempt to stay away from any post Jason makes as it usually results in my wife not speaking to me for long periods of time.

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. Most everything I like to wheel on is strictly low-range crawling. My favorite trails are ones where I pretty much don't come out of 4L at all.

Dammit... see? Now I'm rationalizing how to spend money I don't need to spend! :D

:hilarious: Well at least you know if he's posting about it, it's a legit review of something on the X whether it be good or bad. It's just that most times it is something good AND it happens to be something we want. :D

To help you guys out some more...it is amazing how much those gears change your rig. It really changes everything...you have to change the way you wheel your X w/ the Tcase gears. :) Going over any kind of rock gardens you just lift your foot off the gas and just steer...every now & then you just need to blip the gas to get over some stuff. :)

I know.....and I'm working on it. Basically gears and a locker are at the top of the list, but behind a bumper or two.

skip the front locker and buy yourself a waggy axel and a lunchbox locker and get an sas started. you said you do mostly crawling anyways.

Tomorrow picking up BlueX from my buddy's shop in Richmond. He installed my new SLR steering kit and also got her aligned correctly. Will be good to have her back home. She will be ready to run some Blue/Blacks @ Rausch w/ my other friend's SAS'd Toyota. :D

BlueX is in the shop getting some maintenance done on her. She needs a new starter and her carts might need to be replaced. Also got a new motor mount from Rugged Rocks OffRoad. Once you have Tcase gears the stock mounts can hold up to extra torque I have now in 4LO.

Was thinking of jumping up to 5.14s and re-gear her...but the cost is way to much for not that much gained.

My next big purchase for the rig will be a tow rig (sometime down he road). Looking at a Chevy 2500...not sure if I want gas or diesel?? Once we buy a house and I have the space to park the trailer and the X.

Don't want to jack your thread just wanted to show mine compared to yours, the blue is quite a good color when you begin to mod it. Other wise it doesn't really stand out. I love what you have done with yours its awesome! Get us some more pictures man! :D

I almost bought a blue ones myself. But just about every car I owned, but one other was blue. My last car was a BLUE '93 Path which I had for 15yrs. It was time for a change. LOL

Bought a Silver Ice one instead.

for those that are thinking of replacing their rear springs. I have Alcan Springs in the rear. here is some flexing....I took these today at Dry River GWNF

now that is some flex!!! love it!! I cut the rear fenders so i can get even more flex out of her. I highly recommend getting Alcan springs :mocking:
I can get some more out her still

That first pic looks like you need an extra 2-4" of lift. The tire looks like it's rubbin' inside your wheel well.

Update...I broke more S on her. :D She is so abused sometimes. :) Looking into selling my '98 Camry and buy a Chevy 2500 4 door to tow my trash to and from Rausch.

Looks like the adjuster slid onto the adjuster all the way and once everything got lined up the tbar was actually too far back into the adjuster and not forward enough into the anchor.
