I'm looking at putting a set of Fog Lamps on my '02 X. I checked to see if its pre-wired ( it is ) but I think I'm missing a wire on the drivers side. On the passenger side the wire comes down and has a brown connection on it which plugs into the wiring assembly with another brown connection along with a grey one for the actual fog lamp, but on the drivers side I am missing the wire that comes down and plugs into the wire assembly with the brown/grey connections. Can someone tell me if I am missing a wire?

did your xterra come from the factory with fog/driving lamps? if not then it isnt pre-wired, you'll have to do it yourself. heres how i did it, i got them factory lamps, replaced the bulbs(more light please). got red and black 8ga. wire, 4 terminal relay[terminals: 1. 12v in, 2. switch(on/off signal), 3. ground wire, 4. 12v out(split into 2 wires one for each lamp)] it will say which terminals are for what on the box. then once you run the power wires to the lamps, then run a ground wire from each lamp, make sure you disconnect the battery before doing anything! now youwill need 3 inline fuses; 30amp between the battery and terminal, and a 15amp between the terminal and each lamp. its semi confusing to read, i can draw up and send you a diagram if you like. for the switch wire, it spliced into the signal wire to the side markers so when i turn my parking lights on, the fogs come on, no need for an in car switch.

Ummm, alot of Xterra's are prewired and did not come with fog lamps, if it is a 2005 S model, I can guarranty it was prewired, I sell a ton of the fog light kits
if you are missing a wire, we might be able to get one for you.
Usually if you don't see it, it is just hidden away somewhere, but if you checked right up to the harness, then it just might be missing.

i was speaking in relation to 04 or earlier, dont know too much bout the 05's. trim level (xe, se) may have something to d with it being pre-wired w/o the lamps in it, they may not be an option on the XE(what i have) but may be an option on the SE's so if you wanted it with the fogs blah blah, so that would make sense. my XE had only the wires for the sde markers.

Hey guys, Thanks for the info. I would have replyed sooner but didn't get the chance. We're enjoying some unusual warm weather here in Newfoundland lately so we've been on the go quite a bit with no snow - only mud from all the warm rain. Anyways i think its just one wire thats missing I guess its tucked up in there some where so i'll take a more detailed look. Happy New Year from us up here in Canada.
