: New Distributor and still not working
Eddiex 10-09-2008, 03:44 PM I just put in a new Distributor and the car will still not start it just turns over and will not start.
So i have a new fuel filter and now new Distributor and i am still not working?
TN4x4Xterra 10-09-2008, 03:50 PM maybe alternator?
I wouldn't suspect alternator if it's turning but not biting, maybe battery cables but not alternator. Does anyone know if thare's a fuse or relay that can blow to cause this like to the Fuel Sending Unit or something?? Hey, could it maybe be corroded wires to the Fuel Sending Unit that others have had to replace??
Here's a couple good threads:

Creepy Cruiser 10-09-2008, 04:40 PM Right, have you pulled the feed line from your fuel rail to see if it's even pumping fuel to the front?
chris-petrenko 10-09-2008, 05:10 PM i suggested to test the fuel injectors themselves
buclao 10-09-2008, 05:47 PM check crank position sensor. you need ohm reader to test this sensor. if this sensor goes bad, it doesn't throw any code. no fix for this sensor only replace with a new one. it is not very expensive but it is not cheap neither.
Eddiex 10-09-2008, 08:14 PM Ok i got in a Innova CanOBD2 3100 code reader today Nice unit.
It says two things
PO340
Camshaft Position sensor A Circuit bank 1 or singel sensor.
and
PO115
Engine Coolant temp Circuit
??
Where the heck is the Camshaft Position sensor A Circuit bank 1 so i can replace it?
Same with the Engine Coolant temp Circuit how do i find it.
Thanks
cwine 10-09-2008, 08:59 PM The cam position sensor is in the distributor. You will see a 6 pin harness that plugs into the side of the distributor ,this is plugging into your sensor Did you get a new sensor with the distributor or did you have to reuse the old one.If you got a new one and you have checked to make sure your fuses are good you'll have to get a volt meter and check to see if you are getting power to the sensor.Starting from left to right on the harness 1-6 hook a voltmeter up to the # 5 pin to see if it's getting battery voltage if not then you'll need to check your relays and the wiring with a ohm's meter for continuity. Good luck.
dezurtrat 10-09-2008, 09:54 PM You need to go back to the basics. Internal combustion engine needs three things to run:
1) Compression
2)Spark
3)Fuel
Lose any one and it won't run. Start systematically diagnosing and stop parts replacing. It may take a while but you'll save a ton of cash.
areyes 10-09-2008, 09:57 PM yeah really check the fuel im telling you all's you gotta do is turn the key to the start position and you'll hear the fuel pump run. it sounds like a whine. If you hear it great next pull the supply line get a small plastic bottle or something take the line off the rail mine had two bolts and it pulled out watch out there will be gas spraying hopefully so wear eye protection then turn the key to the start position again and see if gas comes shoting out. If its good then next check the fuel injectors. when you get to this part let me know
Eddiex 10-10-2008, 02:12 AM The distributor was new with everything included including new top.
I do hear the fuel pump run when i turn the key.
At what place do i pull the supply line? to check for fuel??
I did change the fuel filter and had a lot of gas coming out at the point..
I found this on the internet
cam position sensor this looks like it is not in the distributor???
Or is it?

dezurtrat 10-10-2008, 12:46 PM The 3.3L V6 has the CPS in the distributor. Go back several posts. I put all the info out of the ESM about it in the post so you could troubleshoot it. If you replaced the distributor and it's still not starting then the CPS is not the problem.
areyes 10-10-2008, 11:46 PM alrite in my x there are two fuel lines supply and return the return is just a black rubber hose with a hose clamp on either side that clamps onto the fuel rail on one end and the hard fuel lines on the opposite end on the passenger side. The supply line runs right next to it except it connects to the fuel rail with two 10mm bolts this is the easier one to take off. just undo the bolts and pull while twisting its snugged in there with a small oring. make sure you have a soda bottle or something nearby. Once you pull that line if your pump is working then gas will come squirting out. place that line in the bottle and have someone turn your car to the start position see if more gas comes shooting in.

well there's two plugs for the distributor the smaller one looks like it would plug right into that part. it probably is internal do you still have your older one? take it apart
mygfsxterra 11-06-2008, 11:21 PM did anyone fix this Im having the exact same problem with mine. and if it wasnt the cam position sensor I dont want to replace the distributor if i dont have too.
