My CB is really confusing me, every time I lock or unlock my doors from the inside while the CB is on it makes a short static sound. Same thing happens when my subwoofer hits, but with the sub the static lasts for as long as note on the sub is going. Any ideas on how to fix this? It is rather annoying, and it can't be good for the CB. I have both + wires running to the battery, and the ground somewhere in the interior (can't remember exactly where).
How close is your ant coax to the power lines of the sub or the amp itself? Do they run next to each other for too long in a straight line? Does the noise go away if you raise the squelch up a tad or does it come through even with max squelch?
May also need to look into a ground loop isolator for the CB.
One thing I've been meaning to ask is where are the X's brains located (gen1, gen2) because you really don't want any transmitter too close to it.

Now that you mention it, the coax does run right under my amp. But then why would my door locks be doing the same thing? :icon_question:
Any electrical device can cause interference on the CB. Normally you can mitigate that interference by how the CB is wired, where the unit is located and the length and path of the coax.
The door locks pull a bit of power so you might want to double check your grounds (CB & ant) and look into that isolator as it's most likely just electrical noise from the actuators going back through the battery.
I used to have terrible whine on one of my CB's but after I rerouted my power wire as far away from the distributor as I could get and put in a decent ground loop isolator it cleared right up. That's also after I had the radio/ant tuned as well.

So, does it "hurt" the CB? If not, I may just live with it.

i dont think it would hurt if you raise the squelch and get it tuned....
As far as I know the only way to 'hurt' the CB is through broadcasting with a poorly matched antenna, allowing the unit to overheat or wiring a unit up without the proper fuse in-line.
If its just receiving and making noise when you activate certain components then technically it's working as it is receiving a signal just not of the type or frequency you expect.

It shouldn't hurt the CB. You might try an alternative route for the coax.
