I was curious if there was an HID conversion kit available for the Xterra so I contacted Xenonexpert.com about it. I installed a kit from them on my '05 Subaru Legacy, which has projector headlamps.

Anyway, they wrote back that there is indeed a kit but because the Xterra halogen bulbs do both low and high beams, I would need a DDM Hi/Lo Bi-Xenon CONVERSION KIT or their 9007 bi-xenon kit. Here is a link.

The kit I bought for the Subaru was about $150.00 but it was not a hi/lo beam model. I purchased the 35 Watt kit with 4500k (pure white) color.

At least on the Soob, it really made a differance over the stock Halo bulbs.

Get some pics of before and after if you can!

I don't have any pics, but about a year ago I did the true HID setup on my 2000 X.

I'd been using the 120W Nokya bulbs that are really just blue glass, and a higher wattage to compensate for the loss from the colored glass. I was blowing them like crazy and burning up the plastic sockets left and right too. Loved the look but it was a maintenance nightmare.

So, I bought a set of the 6000 deg K 35W for the low beams and a standard incandescent filament for the highbeams. Got the set on eBay from a reputable seller for like $110 including shipping.

For install I replaced my melted sockets for the last time, and installed the ballasts, wiring and lamps. The stock wiring wasn't enough to ignite the arc and keep it lit until stable and the current returned to normal operating levels. Bought two standard four pin automotive relays and ran the ballasts through the relay straight from the battery, using the stock wiring to pull the relay solenoid closed.

Works like a champ and they produce a beautiful light. Never have the need to flip on the incandescent highbeams. Word of advice: make sure you have them aimed properly, else you PO all other drivers on the road.

I'd like to get matching HID offroad lights for my front bumper as the 2700 deg K on at the same time as the 6500 deg K looks like !@#$ but the HID offroad lights are pricey to say the least.
