my x's rear end is on the way out it only has 60400 miles on it and the dealer ship wont cover it under warranty so i looking for some help to replace it its on the rod about most of the time but i want something like a posi any ideas would be great and who makes them and or sells them what type of rear is in the x s?

i don't know anyone who has changed out the rear end for a new one, so i don't have any great recommendations. i know some people have swapped out their parts for the ones off of titan trucks, i think it's a somewhat easy swap. i'm pretty sure greg at prg has done this, you may want to check out his site www.prgproducts.com and give him a call. plus, it should be pretty easy to find the parts cheap at a junk yard off a scraped titan.

by the way that's crap that the dealer won't cover it.....it's a 60,000 mile warranty....400 miles over and they won't do anything for you. i would try shopping around for a few more dealers and see if you can coerce one into fixing it

most drive train warranty's are only good for 60,000 miles

are you replacing just the gears? just the 3rd member? or the whole rear axle? Is the 05 model still an h233b?

If it's the axle or 3rd member, it's pretty easy. If it's the gears, I'd take the 3rd member somewhere and let them set the gears up properly. Otherwise, it's just bolts, nothing special. Hardest part is bleeing the rear brakes.

There are two different diffs used in the 2nd gens. One is a Nissan proprietry D44 that is in OR models and other trim levels with stick shift. The other is a h233k and is in auto models except the OR, or at least I think that's how it is. A junkyard looks like your best bet at this point.

good thing i have an extend warranty the dealership is replacing the whole assy.
