Really like the new software at CT! More user friendly.

We don't have one yet, Just started looking around. What are the major differences in the model types.

Nissan's website is one of the better ones for differences in types!!

if you click on each tab they give you the different options for each type of Xterra!! If you plan on offroading it at all the Rear Locker in the offroad makes a world of difference!!

Alley is right if you are looking at picking up a New Xterra. If you are looking at a used Xterra, then a few different things come into play. Different motor, dimensions, and features from the new models that are posted on the Nissan website now.

The 00-04 models came with a variety of options and features.

The base motor was the 2.5L 4 cylinder. I really don't recall ever seeing them this way, but I'm told there are a few out there.

The more common motor was the 3.3L V6. It is a fairly bullet proof motor. Starting in 2001 it was offered in a supercharged variety. If I recall correctly the non-supercharged version was rated at 180hp, and the supercharged version was rated at 210hp. This was also the same drive train used in the Frontier.

They obviously came in 4x2 and 4x4 format with automatic or manual transmissions.

Virtually all 00-04 Xterra's that I have seen have had power windows, locks, and keyless.

As long as standard maintenance is done, these should pretty much run forever. In the maintenance list to not necessarily be worried about, but definitely to do are the water pump/timing belt change at 105k miles, and also the plugs and plug wires at that time. The 6th plug (very last one by the firewall) is an absolute PITA to get to. Some people claim a special tool is needed, but in fact it simply requires a couple of long extensions, and socket swivels, and plenty of cursing (I have found that they like to be cursed at in their native tongue, so if you can effect a Tennessee accent, you will be better off).

There are quite a few more things to include, and I'm not the end all of knowledge on the topic. Which model and year were you looking at, and perhaps we can chime in with more particular information.

Well we bought my wife an 06 Xterra last week! I will post pictures in a bit, once I figure out the sizing thing on my PC.
