I am an extreme newb to the Xterra's. I have a 1997 Pathfinder, and I think the Xterra is going to be my next SUV. I found two 2004 models. Both have 21k miles. One is an SE and the other is not. They both have the same options on the window sticker. What will I get with the SE that makes it an SE?

By the way...these are $16k trucks...I hope that is a decent price.

SE means 380W Rockford Fosgate stereo sys, fog lights, 17" rims bigger tires. & some other stuff I cant remember. All in all, I think SE means a few more bucks on the resale value when you retire it.

Not sure where you are, but I would honestly look around at dealerships that still have a leftover 05. shoot me a PM or an email at dlanier@sc.rr.com and I'll give you some dealerships that have 05 leftovers.

I picked up an 05 Red Brawn Xterra S, with side molding, step rails, fog lights, class III hitch, 6MT, pwr win and locks, and the protection package (wheel locks, emergency road side kit, first aid kit). The dealership was suffering to get rid of it, so I picked it up for 17,800. That's inclusive of tax, and tags.

Going from an 04 to an 05, you'll get less miles, a larger Xterra, and a bigger motor from the word go. Are you looking for 4x4, or a particular color?

Just my .02, but it would be worth it in my mind to pick up a brand new leftover for 1800 more than what you are looking to spend used.

I have an SE model 03 and love it... and most of that love comes from the kick-ass stereo system that's in it.. so if that's important, go with the Rockford Fosgate 6disc :)

basically, the SE has all the options available for the Xterra. It is the only model available with a sunroof. It also come with an LSD, with is only available on the SE and select XE's. They all have the 3.3L V6 engine too.
