First of all, hello!

First post here. I just bought a 08 Xterra X model and want to change out the speakers and radio, probably with a double din radio, looking at maybe going full alpine or pioneer.

Is there any guides around for removing the 4 door speakers and the tweeters, and also the factory radio. I found some 05 guides but I'm not sure if they are the same.

Thanks for any help!

edit
if I don't go double, I will use this kit.

If you dont use the double din go to ebay and type these numbers and use volaudio super fast shipping I couldnt get the link to work I just used these in my 08. NAA2B antenna adapter $19.95,NN04B wiring harness $9.99,NN1491B same dash kit u saw at Crutchfield for 19.99 they sell for 9.99 plus they combine shipping. To get the radio out just look above the radio where the open storage compartment is and give it a pull and the whole radio console comes off.

This applies to removing the stereo in an 07. I think an 08 should be the same.

Carefully pry out the tray at the top center of the dashboard. Be careful the plastic marks and scratches easily.
Remove the screw that is now exposed.
Pry out the dashboard center covering the A/C controls and stereo. Tape the metal clips at the bottom because they WILL scratch the rest of the dash.
Remove four screws securing the stereo and pull out and unplug.

The tweeters are not standard size. You will need to do a little cutting and custom fab to get new speakers in. This is due to the limited shallow depth of the given area. I believe the door speakers are also non-stardard size.

Question though Jasxterra, did you have to remove the front panel covering as mentioned by k1w1t1m? I also went ahead and ordered from volaudio, thanks for that tip. Just waiting for the stuff to come in the mail now.

Really appreciate the help everyone, thanks a lot.

i just replaced the ones in my 06 and the fronts are 6*9 and the removal is super easy! there is like 3 or 4 screws involved with it. take off the elbow pad just carefully pull up on it, remove the screws. carefully remove the cup for the door handle and with a flat screwdriver carefully pop the tab that holds the window switches, unplug said switches. carefully remove all the pop tabs around the perimeter of the door and then pull the door panel up and out. when you replace your door speakers make sure you cut the little tab that holds the stocker in place or else you wont get your speaker to line up right.

Well my install is complete, would have had it done sooner but been so busy. Here it is, Clarion DFZ675MC. I went with this stereo because of the aux in that is in the front, perfect for my zune 80, without having to run cables through panels.

There is a problem though, I disconnected my battery so I don't short anything out. And now my VDC light won't go away along with some other light which I'm not 100% sure is. Do I have to do some kind of sensor reset because of the disconnected battery? I checked the VDC and the connection is good.

figured it out, did the key reset trick and all is well. :D

RTFM ....

When changing the battery - you should go thru the reset procedure. Is all explained in the manual

Turn the engine on drive straight for about 10 seconds over 10 mph and it should go off. The owners manual says 10 minutes but it goes off way before that. If you have an 08 and the VDC/Slip lights keep returning you will have to take it to your dealer there is a TSB regarding the Steering Angle Sensor.
