So I am about to get an 04 V6 Xterra and would like to know what mods should I get 1st. I have some $ to blow and would like to wake it up a bit. I don't necessarily overhaul it now but a few select biggest bang mods would be nice. I was thinking:

Exhaust- Any completely quiet ones? Header back?

Cold or Ram intake?

Jet Chip?

TB?

Ignition?

Fan?

Bigger radiatior/intercooler?

Cam?




Also, I have a set of 32x 1150 BFG ATs. Will they fit on stock wheels and can I do a 2" BB and back spacing to fit them in? I might not do this but its floating around in my head.

Depending on how much money you got to burn, you could get an '05 (Second Gen) X which has more HP and torque than the '04, plus it will fit the 32" tires stock... Just an idea

for the 1st gen you can get a 2"BL for $65 then you can do a DIY airbox mod, them a PML for around $65, the backspacing needs to be 5.5 and the bolt patern is 6x5.5....

Having had a 1st gen and now an '06,both modded heavily I would HIGHLY recommend you spend your extra money on a 2nd gen X!

Those r some badass rims on the 1st gen... makes me think of an old airplane propeller

both of them need tint on the front windows though.. LOL

The 1st gen was stolen while it was up for sale.Geico gave me top dollar for one in excellent condition.The '06 now has tinted windows.

The biggest question to the OP is what are your planned uses for the Xterra? Then spend your $$$ accordingly.

I probably wont do the lift and tires... keep gas mileage lower and is unnecessary for me.


Do you fellas have any links for the stuff you are talking about? I noticed some abbreviations in some of the first few psots I dont understand, would you clarify the mods you suggest please? I am basically looking for a list with costs and perhaps brands to buy.

Obviously I need to do the basics but costs? brands? best place to buy?:

Intake- DYI (make use of stock stuff) or FIPK type? Throttle body?
Exhaust- a quiet one. Headers, high flow cat(s), muffler
Ignition- plugs, wires, what else?
Computer Chip- who, where?
Charger who, where?
Fan- 16" Zirgo & nismo thermostat

well first if you have quite a bit of money layin around and wanna get rid of some my paypal acct is gixxer.................. hahahaha really though if your staying street than slam that bitch to the ground.... the only thing you have to have "custom" done is cutting of the bump stops..... and some work with the fender lips........ we have a street section now, but i think im the only one that does anything in there, though shadow from hawaii has a street x and another one or two are running around in here somewhere...................... also if you have the money get the fipk, i wouldnt waste your time on the computer chip or tbs(throttle body spacer), no one sells headers as far as i know, napa aperantly sells some downpipes from federal or somethin like that to get rid of the cats and the nismo exhuast isnt that loud, and getting rid of the fan helps with the power, and adding a tranny cooler if yours is an auto adds power, not sure about cams and lifters, guess if you really had the money crane cams could regrind yours....

computer chip is a scam.... unless you pull your computer and send it to ac for them to send it to the company to get it reprogramed ( i forgot the name of the company.. LOL ) cams can be done but its some work to get it done as well.... if you are going to keep it street and if you like the lowered look gixxer is your man.... of and creepy is the all around custom guy.. LOL
