ok, i saw something in a thread the other day about doing leaf over or leave under sus. like w/ the leaf springs on top of the axle or under.
what are advantages/disadvantages....seems like leaf over would raise the back higher and seems like you could geta few more inches droop out of it since the leaf could sflex just as far as it would before, but the axle would be farther down.
im probably wrong.
someone just let me know...i am just curious.

downsides;
leaf over increases the efect of axle wrap
you woulndt be able to match the lift int he front
you may have trouble witht he angle of the driveshaft

+1 on what Dustin said

If you really wanted to try it you could probably do a "bolt in" by using Frontier parts which I am pretty sure are spring over.

There are Rear End "Flip Kits" avail that you bolt on to move it to the other side.

the frontier's are the same as our X's... at least everyone i have looked at in my area.... the only way this would work for a X is if you SAS the front so the rake isnt that bad...

robby and tim did a axle over on a jeep and it raised it like 5" but they had to extend the drive shaft and get longer shocks.....

Most guys that have SOA (spring over axle) on an X are SAS'ed up front. Look for posts by Kevin (alpinespirit) he has an SAS with and SOA in the rear and posted up about it somewhere. As far as I know he welded new spring perchs on his rear that are longer and cut down on the common problem of axle wrap. Its either here or on XF that he posted a link to the site where he got the perchs. I'll see if I can find it and I'll post it here.

when my sas was done, we went SOA for a few months to level it out, and the ride was terrible. other than the clearance it gives, thre are no benefits.
