It's not what you're thinking... but I thought you guys of all people would get a sick sort of kick out of this story.

So I was writing up a corvette this morning in the service drive, sitting in it minding my own business, when all of a sudden I got hit from behind *WHAP* and the corvette got pushed about 3 feet or so with me in it.

I turn around and look and it's this used car we had gotten in, a 2002 Pontiac FireBird that the dipshit who owned it before had put this aftermarket alarm system in it. The service manager was jacking with it trying to disengage the alarm because it kept going off.... he gets out of the car, with the car turned off and in gear (standard transmission) and all of a sudden the car starts up BY ITSELF mind you, with the keys no where near it and IN GEAR which it is NOT supposed to do, and it takes off... again, BY ITSELF... slamming into me in the corvette.

Scared the crap out of me.... I think I may of peed a little. Seriously.

How much damage to the Vette?

Sounds like he put in an aftermarker remote start and by-passed the clutch switch but didn't wire it into the parking break switch (or the parking break doesn't work).

That story made my day. I had a remote starter in my accord in Japan. It was great because we got 7 feet of snow a year. So I would start my car 10-20mins before I left in the morning. It would be warm and there was no snow to scrape off the car.

Looks like they bypassed the neutral safety switch....
they're removing that damn alarm and fixing the switch so we can sell it without being sued.. lol

I finnaly got the company to send me the owners manual, and it took me about three nights of sittin on the porch reading it (between hollerin at the kids playin hockey in front of my house and the reverbs vibrating the china) to get it into valet mode where it has remained..........
