22's SON! go big or go home! lol j/p. ive noticed more people like to go with smaller rims so the tires wont be so thin like mine. but i promise you thinner rubber holds up just as well as the thick stuff. ive gone over many curbs wit my shoes. never been over any sharp rocks tho. lol. i guess it just depends on what you plan on doin with ur x.

The shorter side walls will just make your ride more harsh due to less rubber in the sidewall to flex when you hit a bump so you feel alot more. Plus your tire guy will hate you for low pro sidewalls like that. LOL They suck to mount unless you have a special tire machine and attachments to help you like we do at work.

twest, I like the 22's but I have heard a few people complain about the ride being "a little bit more rough" and where its kinda bumpy, but where I live almost every street is bumpy as hell w pot holes and crap everywhere, but I see tons of trucks and cars with 22's and bigger all the time, so I figured it can't be that bad. I like the 22's but I want black rims on mine (same color as yours too), but what size tires can I fit with 20's or even 22's without lifting the truck?

twest2006
12-04-2008, 07:18 PM
wit 22's mine are 265/35 r22 and i would say thats as big a tire as u can fit. because i had to take the mudflaps off and i had to cut the ridge where the screw holes are out so i could turn without them rubbin.

That's the size the guy recommended me yesterday. With the 275/45/20`s I had to shave a bit of the wheelwell to make them fit on the front.Anything taller and you`ll have more problems. The ride was quite a bit stiffer but I got used to it over time.It did improve the handling.I put 265/70/18`s on my '06 for the more plush ride. The question you have to ask yourself is,What price am I willing to pay for coolness?

Yea there's not a street down here without potholes and crap everywhere, but if it's something I gotta worry about like if I can't even drive through it normally without screwin up my rims or tires or w e or if I'm on regular streets n it makes the ride rough as hell and uncomfortable, then I'll just go to 18's. but is it that bad of a ride with being rough and everything?

neworleansnightmare13
12-12-2008, 06:14 PM
n is it that big of a difference going from the 20's to the 18's with the ride and everything? worth keeping the 20's or worth moving to 18's?

SHADOW
12-12-2008, 10:02 PM
Much smoother ride with the 18`s.There was a noticeable difference when I went from stock to the 20`s.They do look great though.I doubt you`ll ruin any tires or rims with the 20`s but you will feel the different ride.

twest, I def think it will end up being the 18's now. The 20's look great, but if the uncomfortable ride n everything is not worth having the 20's, then I'll just get the 18's. I understand I will "feel and notice" the new ride with 20's but do you regret having the rougher ride for them or glad you went with 18's? Aside from just the looks, do the 18's feel smoother driving and more comfortable?

twest2006
12-13-2008, 04:35 PM
thats understood. i guess if our roads were bad here i wouldve went with a smaller set but our main streets have been redone over the past 2 yrs. but when you get 'em you know you gotta show us.

neworleansnightmare13
12-13-2008, 06:46 PM
Yea, I'll definitely take some pics of it n post them on here. btw, what is the biggest or best tire size I can fit with the 18's? I think the biggest diameter I can have is like 31.5 in. but I'm not positive

twest2006
12-16-2008, 01:49 PM
well i used the tire calculator, and im pretty sure i used it right. but the biggest you could go is 235/60 on the tire. i used it based on my tire diameter and everything but for 18s thats as big as i would recommend because its like i said before i had to do a little bit of cutting to turn without the tires rubbing.

I want to go wider then my stock rims, and I want them to "stick out" alittle on the sides to help me get through the soft sand on the beach. Im running 32's on it now w/ the stock rim. Should I go with a wheel thats 16 x 8's ? what backspacing/offset will do that for me?

json3904
07-18-2009, 12:02 AM
me personally i would add a set of wheel spacers to make it stick out a little further... ricer-x runs 1.5" spacers to give a added 3" stance...

C.Jester
07-18-2009, 12:13 AM
I have never heard anything good about spacers though, plus it's not going to put more rubber down, Its just going to move the tire out.

json3904
07-18-2009, 12:15 AM
adding a wider rim without putting wider tires isnt going to help either and besides with a stock rim you can go up to 12.5-13" wide tires and should not have a problem.. and all the bad things you heard about the spacers were prob about the ones that use the same studs to mount the spacer and the tire... on ricers it has a set of studs for the spacer and another for the rims...

C.Jester
07-18-2009, 12:20 AM

bigfoot1080
07-18-2009, 04:31 PM
Thanks guys glad you like it. I just finished installing the lift and I am now fine tuning it. I have to trim a little more on the front plastic because it does rub a little while turning and then I have to trim some in the rear which is going to be the trickier part. I took it on a pretty good trail to test it out and it didnt rub while climbing the hill while going over the rocks. I havent fully flexed it yet to see how much it rubs but I will test that when I do the rest of my trimming.

Here's some of my rims and tires. I have the stock SE rims on my frontier with 33.1" Cooper Stt's.

Lmfaoo.....

I bought it at Autozone. I think the drone of my tires work better than it does. I bought it mostly because it looked cool and i was bored. But The deer know im coming when im riding. Because if one wants to play chicken. I'll win. If i dont i'll get out and make sure i win. If you catch my dirft...LOL
