You have to remove and re-insert some bolts to the frame.

It depends on what kind he got.. didnt the SLR brace bold up to the bottom bolt then angle over to a frame rail bolt??

Hey Ricer,
is yours from AC? Have you had any problems with it? I'm considering getting one from AC and wanted to know what you thought of it.

That would be the SLR version lol.. I am failty sure it bolts from the bottom nut on the idle arm and angles over to the frame, if you try holding it in the position you should be able to figure out what bolts it is...

But wait until someone else posts up just to verify what I have said, because i have never actually seen one installed, I just read directions lol

The AC one is ok at best IMO it only has (2) bolts on the outer face of the IA as a shear point, from an engineering stand point the calmini is better becasue its sandwiched between the IA and the frame, but the power coating SUCKS.. IMO the TC IAB is the best of the best, but its the most expensive and come unpainted.. The only problem is the TC brace is the price, its double in price over the past couple months, but that has to do with the prices of steel I guess....

The SLR brace I have no opinion on because I have never actually seen one installed lol

EDIT: Dont get me wrong, AC is better than nothing at all, but I would recommend Calmini or TC over AC any day...

good enough, shit, the ac is MORE than enough
the ac IAB has saved my ass on many occasions, engineering standpoint of not its more than stable/strong enough to do the job
in combination with the hoohaa centerlink ive hit things hard enough to shred a torsion bar anchor with the steering coming out just fine, id trust the ac before any of the others bc i have and and have experienced its functionality under incredible jarring impacts, remmerb my X is 2wd so ive had to ram some shit pretty hard to get up over; rocks, big fallen trees, ruts
the AC is plenty good enough

i have to say that the calmini IAB does look the beefiest

Yeah, I agree but I hear the customer service there is a PITA and there isnt an order online form on Calmin's site so thats kinda outta the question. Seems like AC would be easiest to go and price is perfect yet reliable Customer Service.

Hey guys, what torque lbs did you tighten the IAB? I was looking at this site and it was pretty helpful but kept mentioning "Specs" so figured I'd ask

I dont tq spec anything that is not attached to the engine lol.. I just try to get it as tight as it seemed when I took it off.. Anything related to the suspension I would always use lock tight on as well..

I would definitally make sure to tq all your suspension parts as well as using locktite, preferably the blue if its something that will be changed. There is a common problem that I even see at work of over tqing stuff. Get a haynes or chiltons manual and specs are in that. I use both books as well as the FSM I downloaded and saved to my computer.

07-31-2008, 09:48 PM
no the kind for bolts.. it helps the nut to not back out as easy... LOL

TN4x4Xterra
07-31-2008, 09:50 PM
so for the nuts, it should be the blue version, right?

json3904
07-31-2008, 09:53 PM
yes they also have the red kind as well.. and you put some on the bolt before you put the nut on....
