Ok, so I just bought two mountain bikes!! one large frame bike one medium size frame. There is a two inch difference in length between the two! will that have an effect on any of the bike roof rack systems available??? What would be the most popular choice from the stock systems available such as the anklebiter, the RAW Front Fork Bike Mount System and the Yakima Raptor Bike Carrier????? Thanks a bunch xterra friensds!! any other tips, throw them my way!!!!

I suggest any rack but a roof rack only because the roof is so high lol.. but if you want one I know Yakima makes one..

Roof Rack! I'm leaning towards ankebiter!! I know its a high mount, its necessary for me because hitch will be occupied with boat and interior would get in the way of luggage lol!!!

There are Hitch Racks with a Hitch-Receiver for your boat, I'll see if I can find some. I have a Yakima Hitch mount and I love it but I'm pretty certain there are better Rack mounts than the Anklebiter. I think Thule might make a decent one.

Look at these reviews: http://www.mtbr.com/cat/accessories/bike-rack/yakima/anklebiter/PRD_350434_98crx.aspx

Here's some of the "Towing Bike Racks": http://www.discountramps.com/towing-bike-racks.htm

This Swagman tows up to 3500 lbs & 350 lb tongue weight: http://www.prolineracks.com/Swagman-64675-tow-bike-racks.html

get this hitch if you want to carry the bike rack by hitch and tow the boat at the same time. Thats what I use on mine...

I just sold my Blazer (to get the Xterra!), but sadly I had to leave the Yakima (roof)rack on & let it go (because I'd misplaced the key...I'm really gonna' be PO'd if that key shows up somewhere now!)...
At any rate, that was a great/easy rack to haul my bikes with (of course the Xterra's height & existing rack might give a few challenges...But regardless, the Yakima gets a 'damn-good' on 'my scale of 1-5!'...Good luck...

yakima raptor FTW

have the bikes mounted up top with horizontal mighty mounts, they fit perfectly!!
found an easy way to get them up and off just need to put a little muscle behind it and leaves my 2 inch hitch un occupied

love it!

I'm a fan of Rockymounts. They make one to bolt to your existing roof rack. The road bike's easy to mount. My MTB just needs a little more muscle, but it's not bad. They're wallet friendly compared to other mounts.

I have a rack that mounts to my hatch. Its the best rack I've dealt with. The hatch is still operable with it on and towing is not affected. Also bike size doesn't matter either
