nice man! they definetly look sick! cant wait to see what you got planned next for your X!

Thanks man. I wish my other wheels weren't so damn heavy or have such a low backspacing or I'd run them with the m/t's. My gas mileage is bad enough as it is lol

Its cool how once you add aggressive tires it looks like a 4x4 beast....
After I did my pml.. the tires looked small... once I added the MTs bam! Off road beast

I took em off before the last wheeling trip.. got tired of the tree branches wacking them lol. I wired in a quick disconnect so all I have to do is unbolt the basket, undo the connector and they're off

I've ordered all of mine from hipoparts.com.. just go to 'weather pack wiring connectors' on the left and then pick single connector kits and then how many pins/wire guage.. let me know if ya have any questions.. I've put at least 10 of these kinds of connectors on lol its a breeze!

Got a lot of stuff piling up in my room for the X and a list of maintenance to do

-Parts for the timing belt change
-Heater Core to replace the old one cuz the inlet nozzle broke

-Ordered a S/C radiator since I'll be in there soon to change the TB
-Picking up some spray paint to paint my wheels black
-Need to repaint my plastics
-Need to get all the fluids changed out: tranny, xfer case, power steering, radiator, and brake flush

and on and on lol

Easy as pie! I followed the write-up on here.. i got the old one out in about 10 min.

It took me a little longer to put the new on back in b/c I forgot I needed a m5 x 1.00 bolt for the ground wire.. the stock alt uses a m6 bolt. Luckily a lowes is only 5 min away so I just took the alternator with me to make sure I got the right one lol. The woman that checked me out was like, did you get that silver thing here as well? LOL

I ordered the alt from here

http://fcpimport.com/products/nissan-alternator-quest-210-4146

There isn't a pic of it but the parent company has been around since the 80's and everytime I called I got right through to talk to the people and had no problems. Plus the shipping was free and I got it in 3 days

Put in some new front speakers last night.. sounds a hell of a lot better than the stock crappers.

Got a new timing belt tensioner pulley chilling on my desk.. damn thing has squeeked since day one so hopefully I'll get that changed out soon.. I've had it in for +6,000 miles so it obviously works, just makes more noise than I like.

also have valve cover gaskets that need to be changed out.. ordering those tonight.

Since college ends in a couple weeks, I'm planning on repainting all of my plastics and roof rack since I'll have extra time

got some new stickers on order.. going to have to rearrange a little bit

Hey Shaun, how did you know it was the timing belt tensioner pulley that is squeeking? I have a squeek for a few seconds when the engine starts up and it is driving me crazy, but I am not sure which pulley it could be.

Your Xterra is looking great BTW! When you going to make a trip to URE down in NC with it?

Thanks! Some of the guys from the Tri-cities trail junkies(i think thats the correct name lol) came up to shoe creek a while back and wheeled with us.. we were talking about going to URE sometime this summer but haven't heard anything else. I'll definitely let ya know though!!

When we did my timing belt, we took off every accessory belt one by one.. the only was left was the timing belt lol. and it goes the whole time the engine is running.. not really a high pitched squeal.. its more of a constant whine. its hard to describe lol. I'll have to take a vid

Van you going to come to nXm?

I'm not; I had thought about going but found out my family vacation is from the 10th-18th.. hate to miss the plant tour and meeting all you guys, but its the only one Im getting this year

Finally have some free time to update this thread.. I've changed a few things..

Painted my roof rack, put my mud terrains on my steel wheels, took off the pin stripe, removed the rear badges.. I would've taken off the front one if it didn't have 2 holes behind it in the hood, so I just repainted it. Also repainted all of the bumpers/trim.

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c131/SVandeBogart/Xterra%20pics/IMAG0147.jpg

I'm planning on painting the wheels either this weekend or sometime next week.. :D

Changed up my stickers some too.. removed a few and added some custom ones creepy and I came up with for our local wheeling club...

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c131/SVandeBogart/IMAG0093.jpg

Here's the other versions of the stickers he made for us

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c131/SVandeBogart/teamdohc4x43Medium.jpg

http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c131/SVandeBogart/teamdohc4x45Small.jpg

I need to order a new coax cable as mine broke a while back.. I also ordered an Ultra Gauge the other day and put it in on wednesday.. its a neat little device, I love it. I've already got it calibrated for my 33's. I'll take some pics tomorrow where its mounted. The length of the cord is perfect for mounting it about the rear mirror, running the wiring along the roof and down the a-pillar behind the dash

Heading up to a friends house sunday for a little wheeling.. hopefully I'll have some better pics

I'm really happy w/ the location of it... its right near my hand.

I'm talkin to a guy on VAXC about gettin some Calmini sliders as well for pretty cheap.. they haven't been used much and the guy lives about 45 min from me so i'll hopefully be getting them soon

Nice Grenade!! You have a carry permit for that?? LOL

BrushWorks
06-25-2011, 09:52 AM
The Quest alternator is a direct swap for the X's...except its 125 amp, instead of the measly 80 amps the X one anemically pumps out.

You use the '99 - '03 Quest VG33 version (Same as X engine)...so all you do is take out the 80 amp POS, and install the 125 amp one.

:D

You CAN use the '94 - '98 from the VG30 Quest engine (like Pathfinder's), but you need to re-use your OEM pulley, and do some mods to make it work/line up right...and, its only 110 amps, instead of the 125 amp, etc.

:D

This sounds killer!! Excuse my ignorance.... what is a POS?

vandebogart
06-25-2011, 11:51 AM

BrushWorks
06-25-2011, 12:28 PM
So you just swapped out an '02 X 80 amp alternator for an '02 Quest 125 amp? That's it? An even swap? No additional mods were needed to make the swap?

That's all I need to make a swap and then something blows because the amps are too high? LOL
