Does any one know if the transmission does anything strange
if the speed recahes 95mph? Please advice.

There is a limiter on the first gen X's and I think it kicks in around 95 mph. If you are feeling anything strange at that speed, that's probably what it is.

Remember, it's an SUV not a sports car.

An X at 95mph is just begging for an ambulance ride, my friend... be careful. I'm sure they put some limitations on the transmission just for that reason.

Mine turns off at 99.5 mph, and back on at 98mph it's pretty funny that way:auslachen2-big:

I have been in transmissions for a LONG TIME...( 30 yrs )...I run a trans shop. The trans especially Automatic itself knows NOTHING except what the ECM or TCM computers tell it to do. Your engine will have a rev limiter on it if you get to close to the red line and start killing cylinders or solenoides or switches at that time, But the trans won`t go screwy.............

its a 95mph limiter. It's not the tranny. I believe it actually cuts fuel.

That's correct, it reads off the speedo and cuts the fuel.

For example - If you put on larger tires, you can go faster than 95 mph...as the speedo is stupid that way. (So - the cut will come when the speedometer SAYS 95 mph)

Well being one of only several people that drives a manual X, I've noticed that my rev limiter kicks in as soon as it red lines. It backs the engine off. I haven't had mine past 85 yet, so I haven't run into the 95 limit.

The rev limiter kicks in at red line to avoid over revving the engine...the speed govener kicks in a 95 miles per hour on the speedometer. (Two separate entities)

I haven't had mine up to Redline or to 95 mph. That would scare me for sure in the Xterra.

yea i'm with anthony, it woudl freak me out.
plus i bet i could see my fuel tank arrow slowly depleting. hehe
