I can say that having a 4X4 around here is sometimes a necessity! But, even if I lived in the middle of sunshine land with no snow..I'd still have it just cuz!!

2wd.. cause I'm a girl.... :) and we've established through other debates that 2wd Xterras are mostly female owned.

And cause I just don't need a 4wd vehicle.

I'm a 4x4er just 'cause.

No offense to the 2wd'ers out there, but a 2wd truck just seems silly to me. I am always prepared and even before I got into wheeling, just knowing I have the 4wd and rear locker for those "just in case" situations gave me a piece of mind.

when i used to live in the country I went mudding with friends, and 4wheeling and all of that... but Shreveport just doesn't offer that. :) so no need for the more expensive truck! :D

I don't know if you can even find a 4x2 Xterra in Colorado. None of the dealers that I visited had any.
4x4 is a necessity because I find it necessary to take the X on some of those nice little mountain roads.

Actually I think 4 wheel drive is a liability. Lots of Maint, more things break and with Gas the way it is, you lug a lot of weight 99% of the time that you only use 1% of the time. I'd rather have a 4X2 with a Winch. BUT With all I do, I have to pull a lot of winch cable or spring daily for the gas to hual the 4X 4 around. Ya know, Snow, Boat ramps, A gigantic yard, and a Cabin deep deep deep into the forest right up to the PA Gameland. You can get in with 2 wheel.... but you won't make it out. (in winter) THe X seems to be the best sytem as far as a weight to preformance ratio. I'm happy with it. Not the Bear My Dodge 4X4 was. But better mileage and a place for the dog to ride dry. :) MC

mine personally is a 4x2. im not gonna lie, it would be nice to have a 4x4 but this one was handed down to me so im just gonna have to roll with it. however i do want to put the accessories on there such as the grill interior and other things.

I'd like to see a pole on transmission style, manual vs. automatic. I still say manuals are for the purists out there.

I searched for nearly a month to find a car that still had a manual transmission ..... They are getting few and far between.... :3d_050:

for some cars you have to order a manual from the factory ....

Shifting is part of the reason I love driving..... auto takes a lot of the fun out of it!!

yes, I'm a girl.... that doesnt mean you can't love big 4 wheel drive trucks and like to shift a transmission.... I still fuss over my hair and make-up and get upset if I break a nail! But, that doesnt mean I won't spend 20 mins scrubbing grease out of them after helping change a tranny either!!

Hey Alley... you know Toby G. aka Pogo from the Psycho Clown Posse? Saw a pic on your webpage with him.

He hangs out at my favorite paintball store. Spent many hours shooting the breeze with him.

That is unfortunatly not me in the picture with them!! But, I met them all that evening so I don't know them quite personally but, they were all nice guys! But, you can tell by the amount of alcohol flowing in the pics I really don't remember much from that night! We were all playing @ IAO. It seems I might be heading out for Shattnerball in september if you are familar.

4x4 all the way!!! I pull a 5x8 trailor full of mowers in the Tennessee hills where there are lots of dirt and gravel roads. If you were to try to pull anything uphill, in gravel, in 2wd, with a manual trans. you would just dig and sink.

i dont know how hard the 5-speed one is to find but i was able to find one in east texas. some of you may be willing to travel to find one but there may be some left floating around. i know with mine i want to do a ka-T upgrade to pump out some extra hp and tq. ill probably just slap on a t-4 unit and call it a day.
