I just stumbled across this forum looking for help with a stereo install. Im 27, from mass, bought an 07 Xterra S last October. So far it has been one of the best SUV's I have owned.

Are there any others from Mass on here?

Welcome to CX! :wink-big:

I'm not sure about any from Mass although I know there is somebody from there, but there are several from Pennsylvania and New York.

Thanks everyone! I'm just not sure how to pop off the panels to get to the radio. I really dont want to break anything...hidden screws are not fun, ya know?
Im installing a screen, so the brain has to go somewhere. Im thinking under the front seat. I got the dash kit and wire harness from crutchfield, and it comes with a master sheet.....but in the past ordering from them, the master sheet covers a few years and is not always right. I had a jetta before this, and it was a nightmare to do the stereo over.
So, I was thinking someone on here has possibly done one already and posted about it. I'm going to search a little after I get done with some stuff here at work....im suposed to be working now haha!

Aren't we all? hahaha

I know there have been some threads about stereo installs in 2nd gens but not sure what the best keyword to use to search by. If I get a few spare minutes and you're still not having any luck, I'll do some searches and post some links for you.

Welcome aboard.

I'm sure a search will reveal something but here's what I remember from when I did mine.

Carefully pry out the tray at the top center of the dash. I used a broadknife, I say be careful because the plastic scratches and dents easily.
Undo the screw you have now uncovered.
Carefully pry off the central surround panel. The bottom of this has metal clips so as soon as you get the surround of cover them with tape or something because they WILL scratch the lower dash panels.

Looks like I wont have to do much searching after all! Much appreciated, thank you! Yes the adobe is readable, looks like its not going to be so bad after all...

I'll bring the digi cam out and take some pics of the install for a gen 2 DIY.

I dont have set plans for mods, although I am looking into an add-a-leaf for the rear since the leafs are kind of weak. Suspension upgrades will be later on....its too new to touch that right now. First thing after the stereo install is going to be upgrading all the speakers.

All I have so far are tinted fronts, and vent visors.

Welcome to the club!

Don't worry about the stereo install, it's not too bad. I just finshed doing mine, but I don't think that it will help ya, as it's an 02. I should have the pics up later tonight.

Ciao.

My front tint is 20%, totally illegal but it matches the rest of the windows. Im thinking about going darker in the back eventually. Oh and I just ordered some Wet Okole seat covers after spending an hour reading the forums....Im gonna have to stop reading..theres too much I want to do and only so much money!
