I tore off a bunch of trim today and was painting it with krylon fusion satin black... I dont know what happened I was painting it outside and it got covered in dust!! it turned out great other that dust being all over it..
How should I go about fixing this?? I was thinking take some high grit sandpaper but then I dont want to ruin all the painting I just did..
Help me out I ruined it lolz.. any ideas other than repainting it??

The best thing would be to sand it down with fine sandpaper and apply another coat of paint. If your doing it outside, you might want to get something to cover it while it dries so nothing can get on the paint.

Oh that sucks.
Other than sanding all I can suggest is paint remover, acetone or similar, especially while the paint is fresh and will come off easier. Be careful though and test it on the plastic first.
I don't know when and where you painted but winds are usually lightest at dawn and dusk. If you have to do it outside the morning might be the best time especially if it's dewy as that will help keep down the dust.

I've had it happen before. Had to suck it up and redo it.

Can you tell me how you removed the back bumper trim (the one on top where the rear hatch closes) that if you did remove it....mine is fading and I'm tired of putting armor all on it constantly and I'm gonna paint it dark gray.

That is something only you can decide. Depending on which plastics you are talking about some are textured slightly so the dust might not show. The smooth plastics could be another story.

I think you have to remove the endcaps first then you will find the pad held down with clips or trees that need to be pushed up from underneath the bumper.

When I herculined my trim I had 4 or 5 bugs and a couple small leaves blow into the wet herc. The herc is so sticky that I just left the bugs and leaves and put a second coat right over them. Besides you can't have mountains without bugs and leaves.

Thanks guys, I'll look into those and I'll download the entire 2001 service manual onto my USB.
